Citizenship is a contract between state and citizen - and the fact is foreigners have a contract to another state before that of our own meaning they're more inclined to the interests of foreign states. You also have to consider the financial contribution they make to the UK, are they a taxpayer?

they most likely still have their own ideals and beliefs from their foreign country still and vote in favour for their foreign country.

Foreigners may not intend to stay and may not fully understand the policies of the party for which they are voting

They do not know what we know about our country. They do not have even a basic understanding of how it works since they did not even pass the basic civics test. Also only British people can decide what happens in Britain.

They weren’t born here and therefore have no right to national decisions. If they want to vote, become British.

Foreigners should have the right to vote but only if they are a citizen because it is our country so it would only make sense for people who actually have taken the time and the care to become a member of our great nation. Also I would rather people who have taken a test about our country would take a vote rather than someone who has not.

If you ask any foreigner who has lived here for several years and is a long term resident of the UK, they will most likely be able to tell you a lot about the politics of the UK and give an in depth view of their opinion.

They live in the country so they should get the rights to vote because they shouldn't have to live with no say in who comes into power.

That would mean that people who are not English citizens can decide the fate of our country when they could easily leave us in a bad position to boost their growth as a country.

If you are only going to be here for a short time say under ten years then you shouldn’t have a say in how the country is run as you won’t be here to benefit or not

If a foreigner wants the right to vote in the UK, they should obtain citizenship and demonstrate a proper connection to the country.

The right to vote in a country should only be given to residents of that country whereby the implications of law changes would be effecting them and their families for the long haul not a potential short time that the foreigner lives in the country for.

They were not born here, they most of the time cannot speak English properly and coherently therefore should not vote for what they do not understand.

We don’t need outside voters. We need to the ability to take into consideration outside thoughts, in order to generate our own thoughts. The thoughts of current citizens.

No other Countries allow foreigners who aren't citizens to vote in their Country so why should the UK be the exception to the norm.

For example almost 60% ( lot of them aren’t citizens but residents only ) of London residents aren’t born in the UK, you want to exclude massive part of population. It would be not fair.

Why should people who aren’t legal residents of the country have the ability to dictate as to what happens within the country.

Foreigners should be willing to accept and/or adapt to their chosen countries policies and way of life without trying to bring their own policy or ways of life to us to try enforce it in another country.

Only if they become British citizens do they then earn the right to vote. If they are, happy for them to contribute to the country they have chosen as home.

You should have to live and work here , pay taxes for a number of years (3-5) and hold full British citizenship to earn the right to vote and make decisions for the future of the country

The right to vote is the right of citizens of this country, id expect the same if I wasn’t a citizen of another country

If they are here illegally then they are criminals just like those imprisoned in this country for committing crimes they should not be allowed to vote and really shouldn't be here at all. On the other hand if they are here legally, for example, with a work visa then government policies do have an impact in them but they aren't permanently here so don't really need to vote.

It seems unfair that foreigners could have a say in our electoral system as well as their own country’s.

If you’re income is sent home to your native country then you are not supporting the infrastructure of this country & lose your right to vote

A general election is the opportunity for the public to decide their leadership. Non UK citizens have no input.

The state exists to look after the interests of the people and is meant to be an expression of their will. If foreign non-citizens can vote, the will of the British becomes diluted by people who have not made a commitment to this nation and may not be around to face the consequences.

They shouldn't have a say on a country they are not from. Focus on changing your own country instead of someone elses's. Unless they have lived in the country for a very long time I don't think they should be able to tell me how I should live in my country.

If you don’t live in the UK, understand or integrate into our culture, or contribute to the economy you should not be entitled to vote.

They have no experience within the country, they are not acclimatised to our way of life, they do not know our values and if they are not staying here they should not have the right to dictate our future.

If they are not a taxpayer then they should not have the right to influence change in a society they do not contribute to. I can’t vote in another country’s election as a foreigner. I honestly cannot get over this is up for discussion!

Immigrants pay more tax into the country than people who live here so surely they deserve the right to vote equally as much if not more.

People from foreign countries do not have the required knowledge of our heritage and traditions to vote on issues regarding this country and our people.

Some foreigners have come over and are claiming benefits and not contributing to tax. Therefore they are not helping with the economy and are taking tax payers money. They should not vote as their vote is selfish to help them stay being lazy and getting tax payers money for an easy life.

Why should people not of our own, not of British birth, that have no understanding of the people’s struggle of Britain be given the right to vote? These are people that don’t have the image of Britain in mind, as they are not patriotic to the first country that allowed them in, but only have their own intentions in mind.
