Anyone who pays taxes to the government should be able to vote. you cant expect them to pay the government but not have the right to have a say

 @9GNGYWBagreed…7mos7MO

Foreigners should be able to vote so long as they are working/ making positive contributions to the country

 @9GW3SCRdisagreed…6mos6MO

If people are contributing to the taxes and economy of a coutnry and are living there, they should be allowed a vote to shape the country they are living in.

 @9GWH4KBdisagreed…6mos6MO

Laws passed in the UK would still affect people staying here on a temporary Visa (for education, etc) and may potentially harm these people and their rights in many ways. past an extent, using this law the wrong way could massively backfire as well, because diversity in viewpoints matters more than one unanimous result.

 @9GNYZ9Ydisagreed…7mos7MO

The right to vote is a fundamental right that should be extended to all people, regardless of their citizenship status. Foreigners who live in a country and pay taxes should have a say in how their government is run. They are just as affected by the laws and policies of the country as citizens are, and they deserve a voice in the decisions that are made.

 @9GLNDVQdisagreed…7mos7MO

Lol actually that is so funny that you mentioned that because people who arent legal citizens contribute just as much as legal citizens dooo!! Funny funny lol xoxo gossip girl

 @9GZPV9Ddisagreed…6mos6MO

If they live here and contribute to the economy and society in general, they should have a day in how it is governed.

 @9GZ5ZQ9disagreed…6mos6MO

Many non-citizen residents pay taxes and contribute to the economy of the country, and denying them to vote would create this image of them just using them, "no taxation without representation".

 @9GBRD99disagreed…7mos7MO

Everyone that resides in the country they live in, regardless of their status should be allowed to vote.

 @9GZQ4SRLiberal Democratdisagreed…6mos6MO

My father has lived, worked, contributed to, and paid tax in the UK for 60 years but has an Italian passport. He should be able to vote.

 @9GHG65Rdisagreed…7mos7MO

Foreigners that have lived here for a long time are basically citizens, so refusing rights to the citizens of the country ruins all rights if the people.

 @9GMLTLMdisagreed…7mos7MO

Yeh only thing that makes you a citizen is being lucky (or unlucky depending on how you view it) enough to be born here. That doesn’t automatically mean that you know any better or contribute any more or less to your community or society than Those that have decided to make the uk their permanent home.

Those that have decided to make the uk their permanent home contribute in the same way as uk citizens and share the same vested interests that we do. With that in mind I believe they should have the same rights that we do.

 @9MC3LQCdisagreed…2wks2W

If you pay taxes, are a resident, have been working for several years in the country and intend on staying here long term, you should definitely have the right to vote in any election and not be treated as an outsider.

 @9M4MMHSdisagreed…3wks3W

If their living in the country and are being affected daily by the laws in place, they should have a vote. That is the very essence of democracy.

 @9LXGQMBdisagreed…3wks3W

Anyone who pays taxes and works in the UK should be allowed to have right to vote and shape their own future.

 @9LVFHSTdisagreed…4wks4W

A lot of immigrants have got a status that gives them the same rights as citizens apart from voting, even though the status is proof of permanent residency for those people

 @9LSPV8TLiberal Democratdisagreed…4wks4W

Because there is no reason for that, everyone who knows enough about this country should have the right to vote, so they should need to live here for five years

 @9LRZSBLLabourdisagreed…4wks4W

If people are contributing to the taxes and economy of a coutnry and are living there, they should be allowed a vote to shape the country they are living in.

 @9LQW65Yagreed…4wks4W

As a UK citizen it would be your right and duty to vote in a election however for those who are not citizens they have decided (through the act of not applying to be a citizen) to give up such right and duty.

 @9LPVBW3disagreed…1mo1MO

Voting and Democracy is to allow the people who live under rules or laws to have a say in what those rules or laws are. People who live here but aren't citizens are still affected by the laws

 @9LPBJWVdisagreed…1mo1MO

Immigrants are also living in this country-your decisions don't only affect yourself. Everyone has the right to know what is happening to them and choose to change it.

 @9LP6YSQagreed…1mo1MO

Just like those imprisoned in this country for committing crimes they should not be allowed to vote and really shouldn't be here at all. On the other hand if they are here legally, for example, with a work visa then government policies do have an impact in them but they aren't permanently here so don't really need to vote.

 @9LN5Q2Mdisagreed…1mo1MO

Everyone who comes to work and live here deserves the right to have a say about how the country is governed

 @9L8RPRYdisagreed…2mos2MO

people who are not legal citizens are still affected by our goverment and contries laws and desitions meaning they should also get a say depending how long theyre in this country and how long they plan on staying

 @9KDGMD2Labourdisagreed…3mos3MO

I think its wrong because they are living in the UK so they should have right to vote and improve their living conditions as much as us because they're here for a reason as they are seeking asylum

 @9KDG5DJdisagreed…3mos3MO

If they live in this country, the government directly affects their lives and so they should be able to vote

 @9K2JB3Jdisagreed…3mos3MO

With an increase in the population of immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees in this country, what reason could possibly be given to deny those people living in the UK the right to vote? Would it not be fairer and more reflective of the stance the total population has on the political landscape of the UK if the right to vote was given to more people than specifically legal citizens. I feel as though those politicians that are reliant on a very niche demographic of legal citizens in the UK, that don't reflect the value of the whole and rely on private funding can be snuffed out by the use of more than just legal citizens in the decisions made in the country regarding it's political climate.

 @9HWZCBKagreed…5mos5MO

It is a citizen of a countries country. They should be the ones to vote on the future not someone whos full interest isn’t with the country

 @9HWFB4Tdisagreed…5mos5MO

All people who legally live in a country are directly impacted by rulemakers and contribute to society/pay taxes, so should have a say in how it is governed.

 @9HBLK47disagreed…6mos6MO

It doesn’t make sense for people to not be able to vote on laws and issues that apply to themselves.

 @9H4R2VLLabourdisagreed…6mos6MO

I mean if theyve lived here all their lives or have filed all the paperwork to be a citizen their basically part of the uk and should be able to vote since itll affect them for the rest of the lives

 @9H4FTX6disagreed…6mos6MO

A person from over seas who is living in our country is likely affected by the voted in power than anyone who was born in the UK due to some parties eg. conservative being discriminatory towards immigrants and refugees

 @9GZ6RCYdisagreed…6mos6MO

Why should people living here legally, working here legally, paying taxes here, have no say on how things here are managed?

 @9H2RZV5Greendisagreed…6mos6MO

They still live here and contribute to the economy and community so should have a say in our government

 @9GYNQRDdisagreed…6mos6MO

Democracy should involve everyone's opinion, not just a select bunch. Just because they weren't born in the UK, doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to help decide the future of the country.

 @9GDWPDVdisagreed…7mos7MO

Those who have lived in the country for a long period of time will have a stake and wish to ensure that the country they are living in is run to provide a positive impact on their life.

 @9GC2NCSdisagreed…7mos7MO

If someone comes to the country to live and contribute towards the system, they should have the right to influence the system

 @9GBYXMNdisagreed…7mos7MO

A foreigner that is a legal citizen of another country, it's because it has chosen to live in that country. Any vote will affect its life, so the foreigner should be allowed to participate in the democratic voting that take place in the country it has chosen to live in.

 @9M2NTS3disagreed…3wks3W

Anyone who's living in the UK for 5+ years and paying taxes is a legal resident. They are eligible for British dual citizenship so they should also be able to vote.

 @9LZWS2Cdisagreed…3wks3W

Commonwealth citizens should also be taken into account. The UK citizens have already stolen much from the pockets of other nations.

 @9LYQ5YNdisagreed…3wks3W

foreign people living in Britain are also affected by decisions made during votes so the should have a say

 @9GB774CLabourfrom Antalya disagreed…7mos7MO

People who live here should be allowed a day in how they are treated. The fact we shelter refugees without supporting them is horrendous.

 @9FLPMMSdisagreed…8mos8MO

To oppose this, due to these people being in the country any laws and decisions made my the ruling party/ government will affect them many ways; hence, these people should be able to vote to have a say in society.

 @9FL4TFZLabourdisagreed…8mos8MO

Many foreign people contribute a lot to our society, and should be allowed to vote on thibgs that affect their lives

 @9FKDYB8Liberal Democratdisagreed…8mos8MO

Even without legal citizenship, people from other countries living in the UK are affected by all decisions made by the UK government, and as such should have some input over who is given positions of power in government.

 @9M3KF8Jdisagreed…3wks3W

Anyone who lives and contributes to society should have a right to vote. Citizenship is also expensive at 1,150 last I checked so for many eu Citizen like me we can vote for our town council but not goverment MP. I've been here since I was 4 I pay taxes, contribute to the NHS and National Insurance and pension. I participate in my local community. The only barrier I'd put is a time barrier such as live for minimum of 2 to 3 years.

 @9GY55DNdisagreed…6mos6MO

If they have the documents to live and work here then they would also be legal citizens so they should get an opinion on how the country they live in is run.

 @9MDGYX6 disagreed…2wks2W

People who live in a country and are affected by policies of said country should be allowed to have a say in those policies. Expats from that country who do not intend to return, should not.

 @9MDD29Fdisagreed…2wks2W

Foreign residents of countries participate in the economy and are taxed in the same manner as citizens and after a number of years resident should be entitled to participate in civic society. Refusing this right is simply a mechanism to create an underclass of exploitable labourers such as is in seen in the Gulf States, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

 @9M9KZLQ disagreed…2wks2W

non citizen residents are still affected by laws they have no influence over, a major breach of the social contract.
