Depends how much profit we mean. If large companies and corporations lose out on exploiting customers excessively, so be it. But if small businesses suffer, not fair. The environment is an incredibly important issue but I worry that it has become a political rather than a logical, scientific topic.

Yes and No. Yes for situations where, for example, a factory is dumping dangerous chemicals into rivers etc.
Absolutely no for situations like Imposing taxes on carbon emissions, Mandatory renewable energy quotas, Mandating that new buildings meet net-zero emissions. Government should be limited as much as possible from regulating businesses, as political or ideological agendas could be easily pushed. Eg - Proposal to halve a country's livestock in an attempt to limit agricultural pollution (happened in the Netherlands), stripping forrest land to build thousands of wind turbines (Scotland), Hiking energy prices by discourage investment in fossil fuel extraction, including North Sea oil and gas and delaying nuclear power developments etc.
