My ancestors were white. They lived in a country that was almost entirely white and highly innovative. They profited from the countries they colonised, but also from their own ingenuity, and many of those countries profited too.
When white colonists have left other countries, the standard of living of the indigenous peoples in those countries have generally fallen, although the infrastructure has mostly been left intact at the time of the colonists’ exit.
So is that good? You tell me. With freedom comes responsibility. Not just for yourself, but for your people too.
