However, it's important to remember that the burden should not fall solely on individuals, and more work needs to be done to ensure larger corporations and influential individuals are also taking part in the sustainability efforts. It is necessary for the government to make sustainability and the environment core features of their public, economic and social policy. But currently, most sustainability initiatives are mere greenwashing, and mean nothing when the largest players are not held to account. In the meantime, smaller actions are paving the way for better, even something as simple as encouraging proper recycling - when we adopt a sustainable attitude, we teach others to do the same, when others do the same the collective effort makes a larger change. When this attitude becomes habit, it becomes the norm for younger generations too. But I do agree that governments should not rely on this and must actually do their job in driving more large scale changes.
