Whilst the intentions may be to allow greater access to the housing ladder, usually these schemes just result in further inflation of house prices for those that can afford houses without these schemes. The real winner therefore tends to be the housing developer who tends to get more revenue for their same cost base. Given the shortage of land and the handsome profits made by developers I would support a regulatory body similar to that used in energy sector to regulate the obscene margins that developers receive - this would lead to more affordable housing in a sustainable way.

Affordable housing is continuously being build on green belt land. We need to preserve our green spaces. There are plenty of empty properties where housing could be offered instead

Affordable housing isn’t actually affordable. This is just a way of getting planning permission through quasi schemes

We would have plenty of affordable housing if our population was under control. Something that is hard to come by is usually really expensive

Everyone deserves a home that they can afford to live in. The cost of living crisis has hit us all and those in work and unable to access benefits are probably the worst off. Being able to provide a stable home for their families is important

The strain being put on families to support older children remaining at home is having a negative affect on the elder generation, increasing the retirement age
