Donations (when well regulated) can provide a good platform for pressure groups to have their voices heard. Since they are regulated, all will have the same voice and be promoting ideas, rather than bribing politicians.

The current Conservative party is known to be taking donations from oil companies, and lo and behold, more oil licenses are being awarded, despite them being against expert scientific and financial recommendation. See also vapes.
