If DNA evidence is accurate enough to free the wrongly accused, it is accurate enough to put criminals to death. If the evidence is undeniable, the wrongdoer will spend the rest of their life behind bars on the tax-payers money. This is a waste of resources.

How many is “too many”? It is regrettable when innocent people are sent to their deaths, hence why the courts should strive to obtain strong evidence and conduct fair and well-considered trials when reaching these judgments. However, many of the people who have been given the death penalty and/or would face it, are arguably given the death sentence with good reason, and the mere existence of some mistakes being made in sentencing does not negate use of this punishment in absolute.

The process for the death penalty should be slow and very stringent. A long death row time period would allow for mistakes to be identified

Death penalty only on those who have the most evidence - lack of evidence shouldn’t get death penalty
@9H5CBTT4mos4MO
Yes, in most countries with terrorist groups, but in calmer countries, it's more than likely someone is getting the death penalty because they murdered someone. The Death Penalty is only justifiable if the person tragically murdered someone or broke the highest law.
@9H4LSXR4mos4MO
To be convicted of the death penalty it must have been absolutely horrific and the evidence so strong that the odds it’s a wrong conviction are tiny.
If you have been convicted of a serious crime such as murder or terrorism then you should be given the death penalty as you have taken many innocent people's life.
@9H59QQ44mos4MO
the thing is it depends on what the conviction is because if one person kills one person you cant kill them because an eye for an eye will make the whole world go blind but if it was like a serial killer then fair enough
@9H3ZFLJ4mos4MO
If there is sufficient DNA evidence to convict for a prison sentence then that evidence should suffice for a death prnalty

There's no doubt that certain people are deserving of the death penalty. However time and again our justice system has proven itself flawed. The Judge doesn't like the look of the suspect, the jury decides it must be him, the police not bothering to do their job properly because "scum like them" are probably guilty. Death is final and we can not undo that mistake.
Those who advocate for the death penalty should be willing to be executed by lottery by the state in the name of the cause they espouse. After all, if innocents are to be put to death, should they not lead by example?
