@9H3LGQ45mos5MO
Ultimately if nuclear weapons are ever launched, due to the way things currently stand… we’re all dead. Holding more of these weapons does not heighten the threat of mutual assured destruction so they’re ultimately pointless.
@9FZHCPM6mos6MO
It is in the defence of the uk to deter other nations from attacking without relying to heavily on other nations to save the uk
@9FYFL6D6mos6MO
If we don't renew our nuclear weapons program we will degrade our ability to defend our nation in the face of foreign aggression from the likes of Moscow, Beijing, Tehran and Pyongyang. Without the trident programme the uk wouldn't be able to respond in the face of a nuclear attack on this United Kingdom
@9FZNCSJ 6mos6MO
Without nuclear weapons how would we defend our country these days evry large country has some sort of large nuclear weapon so why shouldn't us I mean if we didn't we would just sit a round and get nuked for God sake we need them to retaliate or threat cuntrys who want nuclear warfare
UK has the right and obligation to defend itself and allies against terrors and threats to peace and the uk
@9GTR8VB5mos5MO
The trident nuclear weapons programme is used as an international deterrent used to show other countries that we have weapons of such destruction and we can use them.
@9GT2VCM5mos5MO
The program has been around for 40 years and has never been used offensively, but acts as a constant deterrent to acts against the country. Given the recent years passing, maintaining Trident is a small cost for a higher degree of safety within the country.
@9L2VDSW4wks4W
it is our best deterrent against foreign aggression. Nuclear weapons have kept the post war peace through mutually assured destruction
@9KJQ7ZR2mos2MO
we need to be able to stand up against nations like Russia and China on our own without constantly relying on America.
@9KB7KCQConservative2mos2MO
Our counter defense if not updated or supported will allow the enemy/instigator to survive and have a higher survival chance than us
@9JZT8972mos2MO
Mutually assured destruction and the threat of total annihilation of the human race has counter intuatively; been the most successful force for world peace. We must ensure our own protection through trident. It is cost effective through our use of submarine launched missiles because it requires a small stockpile.
@9JBG5Z43mos3MO
With the ever-growing threat of global superpowers, namely Russia and China, I believe being unequipped with the latest nuclear weapons technology would leave the UK in massively disadvantaged position as a global superpower.
@9HX47DX3mos3MO
If UK nuclear weapons become unusable, then thats a major advantage for Russia and China. The UK sits in a very important geographical location and if the UK nuclear missiles get warn down and become unusable then the USA might have to put more nuclear weapons on the British Isles to deter Russia nuclear usage. The loss of nukes will also make the Media look more into our armed forces and the Media is always grim.
@9HSS7M24mos4MO
There is a non-zero chance that someone like Trump will win an election in the US and seriously scale back US involvement in NATO etc. In case this happens, the UK needs to have its own reasonably strong nuclear deterrent to ensure that countries like Russia and China don't mess with us, even in the unlikely event that our allies abandon us.
Do you think a dictator like Putin would prefer the UK to upgrade or dismantle its nuclear capability?
@9GC2NCS6mos6MO
look around yourself and tell me that there is no one around you who could use the money better than to buy weapons
@9G7TQBX6mos6MO
I refer you to the Geneva convention, and every use of war time nuclear weapons in the past 100 years all causing major issues for innocent civilians.
The UK has the right and responsibility to protect itself and allies against terror and threats to peace
@9H498CCConservative5mos5MO
Mutually Assured Destruction is a terrible thing but it protects us. It protects our way of life and ensures the continuing survival of our nation.
@9GYN37P5mos5MO
Nuclear may be our best option in fighting climate change, especially if we can figure out fusion technology.
@9GVJWPB5mos5MO
The country should always be ready to respond to hostile countries however should only be used if absolutely necessary.
@9GN58FY6mos6MO
Nuclear Weapons are the only detterent to foreign aggression and the theory of Mutually Assured Destruction.
@9GL3NRGConservative6mos6MO
the nuclear deterrent has meant that for the last 60 years that has been no major peer on peer war between major nations
@9GJ3X876mos6MO
To protect against foreign entities that may cause significant unnecessary harm to citizens. It can contribute to some sort of positive patriotism which fuels relations and trade agreements with allies.
@9FLKNS27mos7MO
Considering the way the world is heading with regards to conflict at the moment, and the ever declining strength of the UK as a whole, I feel we need something to protect ourselves.
@9FLC4SF7mos7MO
We need trident nuclear weapons because in case of countys like Russia China Iran or any communist fascist or dictatorship country declares war on the United Kingdom
0.2% of government spending helps deter what would be an inevitable nuclear war if NATO started denuclearisation process.
@9GY56SG5mos5MO
We will be without defense if Russia or North Korea were to attack and then we would have to rely on other countries to save us which they might no do
@9FKF5WG7mos7MO
It doesn't matter if Scotland has nuclear weapons or not, its still a significant danger to this country and the world to use them
@9FJLHRPConservative7mos7MO
As soon as the UK borders are invaded with foreign enemy warheads, the people who are opposed to the Trident Nuclear Weapons Programme will be questioning where our nation security is
The uk is a NATO and we require the power to be used if required like the USA did in 1945.
warmest regards John s Ballantyne x 😙
@9L8BR8H3wks3W
Russia, China, Donald Trump and the threat of WW3. Britiain must be able to disuade an attack on its territory and those of its allies.
@9GS567V5mos5MO
With everything going on in the world right now complete nuclear disarmament is the only option. It is always the poor that suffer
@9FLMLMKConservative7mos7MO
@9FJND667mos7MO
If we dont continue the TNWP we will leave ourselves vulnerable to foreign attacks from the likes of Russia china etc. we have already seen putin is prepared to press that red button and nuclear arms are our only true deterrent
@9H3WRJS5mos5MO
Towards the end of WW2, in 1945, the USA dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. Between 192000 and 226000 people were killed by the bombs, many of whom were civilians and not involved in the war in any way, so they didn't deserve to die.
@9GX4DJ55mos5MO
All the countries and trying to lessen the production of nuclear weapons so the UK shouldn’t make some more
@9GF7ZKD6mos6MO
in the event of nuclear war, it doesn't matter who has the nuclear weapons since we will all die anyway
@9G5XZPK 6mos6MO
Nuclear weapons are expedient for maintaining a balance of power and to ensure UK’s national security. Having an enhanced nuclear doctrine also helps in ruling out the possibility of a war due to the risk of nuclear weapons use.
Everyone else has nuclear weapons like Russia so if they strike we must be ready for a counter attack due to alliances.
