Being a banker is a difficult, demanding job. Everyone who has achieved this career have worked hard to get there, especially as hours can be long. Bonuses should depend on the level of work bankers have achieved within a company and how much profit they have made. Capping bonuses wouldn't be fair to those who have worked hard to earn the bonus. Bonuses are a reward for hard work.

I believe in meritocracy and therefore would argue that it is only fair that bankers are rewarded for their hard work. Of course it is important to remember that they do still get taxed on this money.
It's just being vindictive and populist for the sake of it and wouldn't actually make much difference to the country's economy.
