They still should not be born into a position where they have that much power and influence without earning it

 @9FZJHBMdisagreed…7mos7MO

They still influence laws to benefit themselves, the only way they should exist is as a private entity as anybody else living in the UK, constrained by the same laws and taxes. I would not be opposed to abolishing them with a nest egg to see them off, but they should then move into their private residences and vacate the crown estate, which should become a trust for the benefit of the public, managed by people who are elected. Why should we let them continue fleecing us with our own property?

They shouldn't exist at all it is outdated and a slap in the face to people struggling in the cost of living crisis seeing a family getting taken around on a golden carriage whilst they don't know where their next meal will come from.

The Monarchy would still be an unfair family that gained its wealth through the oppression of the civilians, along with the fact that anyone born into that kind of wealth has not earned it but inherited it for no other reason than being born in the right family.

The monarchy is based on old religious beliefs and they still will have a say in the government which the common citizen won't, if we allow the royal family to stay, they'll continue be a leach in our society one way or another

I agree with this in a sense but they will almost never be able to be self-funded in a way that is either fair or sustainable.

Technically, the profit of Royal Family tourism outweighs the cost of it, according to what I might have learned in school. But I believe that closing the wealth gap should be more important than making the country richer, as the money the rich are keeping in their banks could save thousands.

A monarch would still yield to much power and influence over this and other countries getting involved in politics and closed doors conversation. So there is no room for a monarch in the 21st century and beyond.

 @9FJQGKSdisagreed…7mos7MO

It represents stark inequality in our society whether the monarchy is self funded or not. The assets it currently owns just for being born in the position is clearly unfair

I would be willing to accept that for now if they were slowly phased out. The idea of a royal family is incredibly outdated and they clearly don’t represent the multicultural society the uk is now

 @9GZYRW2disagreed…5mos5MO

they should be abolished end of story and when abolished they should have to pay all tax that they have never paid their titles should be stiped as well as thier castles

The concept of the British Monarchy dictates that the people of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, and the commonwealth, are all subjects to one person. As such, it therefore outright declares that people are lesser people and are not deserving of liberty or independence, but rather rightfully at the whims of a supposed god-chosen higher person. You cannot agree to have a monarchy without agreeing to being subjugated to a singular person who, by your own belief, is more important and valuable than you.

 @9G5DQ7JRejoin EUdisagreed…7mos7MO

That is more reasonable however I am not a subject I am a citizen. I am not subject to the monarchy’s will, they have no power.

 @9LS5XZ9disagreed…1 day1D

I would accept this If they weren't to be abolished, I also feel they should be treated in the same way within the law.

 @9LQY2J7disagreed…3 days3D

What is the point of giving all this attention if they are just other socialites? At that point they are just another family in the 1% with centuries of controversial history that gives the UK a bad name.
