How do you balance respect for diverse beliefs with support for secular values in your community?

I balance my respect for both by being passive with my opinions, there are christians in my family and I myself am not one. However, I respect them by kindly closing my eyes and staying silent when they have their mealtime prayer etc. I also don't practice other cultures in my daily life unless I know I am welcome to - Palo Santo is used in indigenous cultures, and they find it disrespectful when someone not apart of that culture uses it so I use sage instead.
