Increase, and make sure that there is greater recruitment offerings, and that it is offered as a pathway at the end of school (i.e. have members give talks in schools)

 @8ZPD5WRanswered…3yrs3Y

 @9ZZ9XF2Greenanswered…1mo1MO

Increase in terms of defensive equipment and technology with an inclusive military, that is volunteer filled.

 @9Y6GQCLanswered…2mos2MO

I've seen myself where the money is being spent. For instance hundreds of consoles, pcs and tvs. It needs to put a limit on where the money is going.

 @9RT4CQZanswered…5mos5MO

Maintain the same budget but isolate from foreign conflicts and aim to have diplomatic relationships with all countries

 @9R53Z3TLiberal Democratanswered…6mos6MO

Increase, as we are currently living through tumultuous times in world politics, but ultimately decrease

 @9R3D2LPConservativeanswered…6mos6MO

Drastically reduce the cost of RnD spendeture and move that money towards re arming and recalling the current arsenal of the country including buying more challenger tanks and new rifles to replace the L85A2

 @9QTRJH7answered…6mos6MO

There should be an overall decrease as nuclear weapons should be dismantled however spending on naval, ground and air defence should stay the same.

 @9QJWJ69answered…6mos6MO

Keep as is, but make military more useful by having them involved much in more community service rather than training for fighting. Make community service at least 50% of their time spend.

 @9Q8JYY5answered…6mos6MO

Increase only if it's for defending our boarders and not attacking other countries for wars the public do not agree with

 @9Q7XG4Hanswered…6mos6MO

Increase to mitigate the cuts of the previous years. For example, our Royal Navy has been decimated by successive governments.

 @9D355DLanswered…1yr1Y

Isolationist; decrease overseas military spending but incerase defence spending on our shores and land. Don't get involved in wars unless other nations are planning to attack our country or if there's World War 3

 @8SJ8GGGanswered…4yrs4Y

 @8GM6JXDGreenanswered…4yrs4Y

Abolish the current military structure, and implement a Japan styled 'self-defence' force based entirely on non-aggression, peacekeeping and self-defence principles.

 @9PNH6M7answered…7mos7MO

Steadily increase spending on counter terroism agencies and the nuclear triad everything else can wait whilst we work on the economy first.

 @9PG7GBD answered…7mos7MO

I’m ok With having a military force for protection of us or other countries but do not agree with active war fare

 @9PCGLSSConservativeanswered…7mos7MO

With my desire to restrict our activities in foreign wars, our defence funding should only be calculated for national needs.

 @9P7M63Panswered…7mos7MO

Stay the same but with a more targeted approach toward technological advancements in defensive equipment such as anti-missle and drone.

 @9P6LYBDConservativeanswered…7mos7MO

Our armed forces are a joke compared to what they once were, money needs to be better spent before more is invested.

 @9P48H67answered…7mos7MO

Increase. I served 7 years in the British Army and although we're one of the best trained Armies in the world, our equipment is old, outdated and in need of significant modernization.

 @9NYJ7XPLabouranswered…7mos7MO

Investment should be made in relevant areas, not unaffordable vanity projects such as aircraft carriers

 @9NWQ8LRLiberal Democrat from Pennsylvania  answered…7mos7MO

Maintain, allow for adequate defense of territory without projection of power overseas or grandstanding

 @9NTWY4Fanswered…7mos7MO

Dependant on situation, right now the world is an unsafe place so it would be foolish to decrease spending despite the cost of living.

 @9NS7VWYanswered…7mos7MO

The government needs to perform an inquiry into where military spending is going. As someone with friends in the military I am well aware that is it not being well spent. Only after this a rebalancing of finances should take place. In the current time period it is important to have a fully functioning military.

 @9NQHGVHanswered…7mos7MO

You won't need to adjust the amount you spend but lean the military!! They waste so much, I know from working within the military how much waste there is!!

 @9NNDXBRanswered…7mos7MO

Increase and also use its budget more effectively and distributing it in ways that the reforms made are more significant with more positive impact for the armed forces

 @9N7QHC9Animal Welfareanswered…8mos8MO

Increase I guess? We should avoid another war by all means, there are far too many babies,small children and innocent animals in our country, a war would be devastating and I can guarantee a riot would ensue if war was coming for us. War is not safe, it is not needed, but should we targeted or attacked, we should absolutely be ready and able to defend our country so I guess keep finding the military to make sure they are able to keep us safe should the worst happen.

 @9N6P5K5answered…8mos8MO

Potentially increase or decrease. This needs to be looked in how we are spending the money in the first place as im sure some of it is wasted / services are overpaid.

 @9N6DMT8 answered…8mos8MO

Stop contracting recruitment to Capita for a start, that'll save loads of money and actually get more people through the door. My application was delayed for literally years until I gave up and sought out other opportunities.

 @9M3NJ9Manswered…9mos9MO

Neither, but it should remove the pension burden for service personnel from the defence budget to free up more spending on equipment and training

 @9LZBQMQanswered…9mos9MO

Increase until the military is modernised, then reduce to maintain a set level above the NATO minimum.

 @9LXWZW5Conservativeanswered…9mos9MO

Decrease; we should focus on negotiating with our “enemies” because preparing to fight them will get us nowhere, but peace can go a long way.

 @9LQ7RT6answered…9mos9MO

Increase, but focus on home and commonwealth territories, not unwarranted excursions into foreign lands, or playing the mercenary to for called allies.

 @9LPZLR3answered…9mos9MO

Increase, focus on defending British homeland and territories, but don't allow our troops to become mercenaries for our so called allies, and don't engage in unwarranted foreign wars.

 @9LPZ2KV answered…9mos9MO

Stop wasteful R&D, just buy American equipment to stop us wasting billions developing bad equipment ex. the Ajax.

 @9LNG7TManswered…9mos9MO

ONLY should increase if it is concern to our country. Should not be using our tax payer money for other countries crises, we don't even have enough money in the country. A lot of people/citizen are struggling, use tax payer money for own country.

 @9L8NDCVanswered…10mos10MO

We are in a position where hostility’s are spreading around the world therefore we need to ensure we can protect our own country.

 @9L54P52answered…10mos10MO

Decrease but not entirely abandon. The military spending takes up a lot of money that could be useful elsewhere

 @9KV27WLanswered…10mos10MO

Increase, however de-prioritise trident and instead focus on high quality equipment and not the nuclear programme.

 @9KBPHNYanswered…11mos11MO

The military spending should be moderate and balanced with other priorities for Great Britain. A military spending which is appropriate for defending the nation.

 @9JPRHMFanswered…11mos11MO

Well ideally but one that’s dependent on our relationship with other countries in their world and two that’s dependent on the uk’s relative spending

 @9J4V8S7Labouranswered…12mos12MO

Increase but the money should better spent on quality equipment for soldiers and contracts need to be under all kinds of scrutiny.

 @9HMXRSXanswered…1yr1Y

Increasing or reducing the amount of military spending must be adjusted to national and global conditions.

 @9HLFCJTanswered…1yr1Y

decrease military spending to be able to divert funding towards welfare initiatives, health and education sectors that need more funding instead of funding fighting and military interventions.

 @9HKYM3Janswered…1yr1Y

Decrease and concentrate resources on defence of the UK and not foreign adventures being USAs sidekick.

 @9HCY58Qanswered…1yr1Y

Yes - with everything going on in the world at the moment it’s good for us to be protected if needed

 @9G6DX7Nanswered…1yr1Y

Slightly increase but focus more on diplomacy to avoid any potential conflicts, stay out of conflicts that don’t threaten the uk

 @9G5MCLJanswered…1yr1Y

Increase, all branches of the military are drastically underfunded and the UK is no longer a largw, competent fighting force.

 @9FX2PPZanswered…1yr1Y

If it is required to protect our country then yes but if it is not a necessary requirement then don’t waste money that could be used on housing homeless people and giving jobs to our citizens instead of the foreigners

 @9FLP9NFanswered…1yr1Y

 @9FJTBGDanswered…1yr1Y

 @9FCNGNTanswered…1yr1Y

 @8VQKHPKLabouranswered…3yrs3Y

The government should look to support ex service personnel more than they currently do now

 @9PR46W6answered…7mos7MO

Increase as long as the money goes towards supporting people moving on from the military and the mental health of all personnel.

 @9PQNXH4answered…7mos7MO

Increase to modernise the living abd training facilities. Make sure they have the correct equipment relevant for their role and to make more opportunities for learning new skills, trades and qualifications

 @9PQK72Fanswered…7mos7MO

Increase, but only to help Military members that suffer from PTSD and other injuries or illnesses suffered whilst they were serving the country.

 @9PQ4Q6Janswered…7mos7MO

Increase but effectively. Don’t blow it on things we don’t need. Improve effectiveness and safety strategically. Also, link it to reducing misogyny and other discrimination across the forces.

 @9PP8YJ4answered…7mos7MO

The government needs to increase our military spending as we are a sitting duck, have no military readiness or actual capabilities. However, we can't really afford it right now so we need to fix our budget deficit before any major changes can be done.

 @9NG7MYNLabouranswered…7mos7MO

Given that it is such a tiny percentage of GDP, it should be doubled. Putin is a very credible and current threat.

 @9NCWCQNanswered…8mos8MO

Increase, but spending should be targeted towards advanced technology in particular AI, Cyber security and autonomous drones.

 @9NCKHKTanswered…8mos8MO

The spend needs to be enough to defend ourselves and be very carefully monitored. No-one should profit from war.

 @9PRD6ZCanswered…7mos7MO

divert finding into forging bridges of understanding between warring nations...and use money to improve our public services.

 @9PJ7TKVReform UKanswered…7mos7MO

Increase for support and realisation of solider back into society giving them a safe space to learn a routine outside of military orders

 @9Q3TS92Labouranswered…7mos7MO

Decrease - we should become a defence only military and put that money towards education, health and other services

 @9PZJ4QRanswered…7mos7MO

The government should maintain the purchase of assets but decrease the cost. Defence procurement needs reform.

  Deletedanswered…8mos8MO

Decrease, to exactly 2% of GDP to comply with NATO, but in the long-term we should work towards leaving NATO and to decrease military spending to 0.5% of GDP with the intention of eventually cutting all military spending

 @9MVRKWRanswered…8mos8MO

Military spending should be better targeted not just applied as the requirements have clearly changed

 @9Q3ZT2Banswered…7mos7MO

Keep Tier 1 & 2 units (SF, Para, Marines, Rangers) as full time, encourage all other Tier 3 (infantry) units to move to Tier 1/2, remaining infantry become TA where they are paid for attendance and maintaining fitness status - this would enable rapid reaction/peace keeping forces/task forces to be utilised. A home guard of 10's of thousands would be available should we be invaded - this would save a large sum of money for the UK tax payer

 @8SRBY9Panswered…4yrs4Y

Decrease, unless there's a threat of world war 3 (in which case we should increase it).

 @9D2PBVMConservativeanswered…1yr1Y

 @9BS82X9Conservativeanswered…2yrs2Y

I don't think this is a simple yes or no, it's very circumstantial and it depends where that budget goes.

 @9BPLPWJanswered…2yrs2Y

Decrease the money spent on non-front line military such as the military bands

 @9BM7HSRanswered…2yrs2Y

Increase due to current political climate, but also give priority to deficit

 @9BLKH4Canswered…2yrs2Y

Increase, but streamline the services and improve the readiness of all three forces.

 @99WZRS6answered…2yrs2Y

It should be at a minimum of 3% of GDP, with a view to increase this to 4% as soon as possible.

 @rosball220501Labouranswered…2yrs2Y

Increase, but only after our deficit is drastically reduced. The military should also be used, in peacetime, as to supplement services and to help emergency services.

 @95WS752answered…2yrs2Y

It's a no brainer we have to maintain a military, we should spend according to need.

 @95VYTZTanswered…2yrs2Y

spend the current budget to the armed force rather than on nuclear figleafs

 @95NZHLTanswered…2yrs2Y

decrease, but put into place more reservist units rather than full time units so if an army is needed then it can be called up.

 @955SD9Ganswered…2yrs2Y

Increase, by retiring nuclear weapons and reallocating the funding to something we might actually use

 @94JQTYQanswered…2yrs2Y

It should be maintained at a level that slows us to respond imminently but should not be detrimental to the coffers.

 @94JPB6Wanswered…2yrs2Y

decrease but only for less fortunate departments. to be able to act appropriatly

 @94H8BM4answered…2yrs2Y

Increase funding to certain areas like decarbonisation and upskilling which in turn improves national security

 @945K46Manswered…2yrs2Y

 @945K7TRLiberal Democratanswered…2yrs2Y

 @9446SJCLiberal Democratanswered…2yrs2Y

Increase - Only while the threat of a Russian invasion on NATO countries is possible
