Public transport is key to ensuring we become less reliant on hydrocarbon based fuels to get from A to B. The government should be investing more heavily in to public transport in every which way to increase routes and frequency. It is also key for those who rely on public transport that it is cheap and always affordable. Currently private operators run routes solely based on profit margins and not for the good of the people using the service. When a route becomes unprofitable private operators don't use the profit of other routes to keep it going, they simply shut it down. People should come before profit and a publicly owned well regulated transport network would do just that.
