Depends on the voting system. If it were a first-past-the-post system then it would inevitably devolve into factionalism where, during a split vote, one faction with a minority of the overall votes could pass a law detrimental to another group.

It's important in some instances like deciding things like independence but generally all it does is cater to narrow majorities and lead to a lot of regretted decisions.

All the failings of democracy on steroids. Influencers are currently cultural politicians of the age. Accelerating that, beyond simple accelerationism, is detrimental.
