Should critical race theory be taught in primary and secondary school?
Critical race theory is the claim that institutions, laws, and history are inherently racist. It argues that white people have put up social, economic, and legal barriers between the races in order to maintain their elite status, both economically and politically and that the source of poverty and criminal behavior in minority communities is due exclusively to these barriers.

The problem with this CRT narrative is that it has lost its entire meaning because of conservatives. CRT is a college level dialectic. It might be too advanced for kids, but I think that basics of CRT should be taught. It just depends on what we're actually talking about
From secondary school onwards, we should educate our youth better about racism and how we can move forward in the abolition of racial stereotypes.
It not a necessity and everyone should be taught not to discriminate, if it comes up in the education topics in the syllabus then a discussion can be had.
I do think it needs to be taught as it is incredibly important to understand privilege however, I think the concept of white guilt needs to be removed from this process.
Being taught critical race theory and being taught to be racially colourblind both have their own benefits.
The class system is more of an issue in the UK systemically. PSHE should be tought as a compulsory subject from primary school onwards covering a range of issues neutrally and with safe class discussions. With topics growing in complexity and range as kids grow up
Critical Race Theory is a university level course, nobody is teaching it in Primary or Secondary Schools.
I believe that there are many race-related problems in society, but teaching people that they are inherently and always will be bad because of something they can’t control is not going to solve racism.
I think religious education should be taught as to what people believe in witbout indoctrination. Extremist religious beliefs and how children can be aware of the dangers of grooming should also be taught as the level of vulnerable children, especially during the pandemic, who were targeted is appalling. This should be an area that is focused on by the government to safeguard and protect young vulnerable members of our society.
They should be educated on the current and past laws and taught how to be racially colourblind but still understand the past
Yes, the best and most accurate (widely academically agreed upon) theories should be taught regardless of ideology
Both. Identify what has happened in the past, as it is true and relevant but also help children understand not to find their identity in the past, but that they have control over their future
History should be taught as it happened the god the bad and the ugly of it. You need to learn history to learn by it
Children often don’t see race in that way and get bad language about it from their parents, teaching it that young may have the adverse effect of introducing them to othering too early
I believe it’s a prism through which children should be taught but teaching the actual theory to children might be a bit complex.
It can be discussed. Let them know what it is and why it exists. But it shouldn't be taught as the agreed on belief system. Especially in the UK.
No because CRT is not what everyone thinks it is; kids should be taught about (race in) the past and how it affects the present but the theory itself is university level
No, CRT should only be taught at college/university level but we should increase education around diversity at all levels.
It should be taught for children to understand history, but should not be used as a barrier to current life, otherwise it will teach children they are racist when they are not
This is irrelevant because children are not and have never been taught this academic theory in the UK. It is a total fallacy designed to stir up culture wars.
I think it should be taught in the sense of making students aware of how biases can occur without it being intentional to encourage students to consider how their voting decisions can affect other people
Kids should be taught about racism and its effects. CRT is a ridiculously hard concept to grasp and so many teachers wouldn’t be comfortable or able to teach it.
No, raceism has impacted the institutions of the UK and schools should recieve guidence on how to intergrate a more nuanced ciriculum, but adding this as a seperate topic would defeat the purpose of it.
This seems to be a mute questions as CRT is not taught in schools. Its used in academia as a tool to understand racism and how it manifests in society. There is nothing in the curriculum that specifically looks at CRT. This is a really dumb question.

A variety of philosophies should be explained.
Critical Race Theory is a university level subject. Primary and secondary pupils should be taught age appropriate lessons in anti-racism, including around colonialism, British involvement in the slave trade, the partition of India and the Windrush generation migration
Yes, but not until secondary school and should be done in a safe environment.
What we instead should be teaching people is to forget about the negative behavioural aspects of certain people belonging to certain ethnic minorities. We should be focusing on the positive behaviour of role models who portray positive behaviour patterns for people to look up to and should not be based on propaganda to treat people specially because of the colour of their skin.
