Once an individual has turned 18 years old and is no longer in full time education, they must [by law] complete 18 months of mandatory National Service in the British Armed Forces. The individual may choose between the British Army, the Royal Navy or the Royal Air Force. The reintroduction of mandatory National Service will teach young people how to respect authority and teach the most unruly of young people how to behave in a disciplined manner, preparing them appropriately for adult life. It will also give young people an experience like no other, as they develop new skills and are given the offer to start a career in the Military upon completion of their mandatory 12 months. Of course, upon completion of the mandatory 12 months, the individual in question has the right to decline this offer of a military career and to pursue other passions and dreams. Mandatory National Service would also cut crime amongst young people and ensure they get the best start in life.
