Yes, but should only be enforced on serious crimes, where by the person is also clear of mind, and the prisoner has the choice between life in prison, or a contribution to the family for his life. (The contribution can be money/property equal to a just amount) e.g. A triple-murderer can give his life so his family get £5000.
