How does the history of your country shape your view on modern discussions around nationalism?

 @9HNL9D4answered…2yrs2Y

Living in the UK, and as a young white man, I find it a very uncomfortable subject. I acknowledge the terrible history of imperialism and conquest that elevated Britain to the historical and geopolitical position it now rests in, and I’m also aware of my own privilege and advantages compared to people of different backgrounds living in my country alongside me. However, I want to strive for a country and a world in which people are not judged by the actions of their ancestors, their class or their ethnicity. I find this an almost impossible dilemma to solve but I think treating others as you would like to be treated is as good a way to approach it as any.
