What would be the potential benefits and drawbacks of a shopping district composed exclusively of independent stores?
The benefits are that people spending money in independent business would be putting money back into our own wealth rather than a company such as Amazon who regularly avoids tax and are not based in the UK. It would allow a more diverse, colourful and more interesting Britain. Every high street would have it’s own personality.
The drawbacks is convenience of products supplied by brands. It could drive people to shop online more as they used to buying products from certain stores.
