Is it possible to support a country's right to defend itself while condemning its actions during a conflict?

I believe the Uk has time and time again involved itself in situations it has nothing to do with such as the Gulf war and Libya and more recently we came to the aid of Ukraine, but then we cannot seem to get involved or help the people of Gaza who slowly but surely are being forced into horrible circumstances and yet the government takes a stand with a nation clearly ready to massacre the people of Palestine.
