No

Dedicated lanes for autonomous vehicles will promote advancement of autonomous driving technologies. This will help to make our streets safer, since autonomous vehicles are programmed not to break traffic regulations. Something that humans are incapable of

 @BDNVJ64Liberal Democrat answered…3wks3W

No, autonomous vehicles should be advanced enough to work in traffic before they are fully implemented

No, autonomous vehicles shouldn't be legal in the UK, until 100% guaranteed safety

 @BCZJP99answered…2mos2MO

No. Its a waste of money, especially as they are not that common compared to normal vehicles anyway.

 @BCP5PGWanswered…2mos2MO

Yes if autonomous vehicles are deployed, we are not at a stage of complete trust of autonomous vehicles

 @BBWCYL7answered…3mos3MO

Don't really know on this one, yes, if they are carrying more than a certain number of people. No, if you are just replacing single-occupancy cars with single-occupancy AV

 @BBTM5YDanswered…3mos3MO

Not if they require major construction and alteration to existing infrastructure, yes if this just means designating existing areas for "autonomous vehicle use only" in much the same way we currently do with buses or taxis.

 @B8TPPX6Greenanswered…6mos6MO

Transitionally, yes. As it stands, I have no trust for autonomous vehicles, and do not believe they should be allowed on public roads whatsoever. However, (potentially far in the future) once they become advanced enough to be sufficiently trustworthy, these special lanes should exist until non-autonomous vehicles are phased out (likely in the distant future (in 100 years or so.))

 @B89JKHJGreenanswered…7mos7MO

We should ensure greater testing and experimentation and situation-simulations for autonomous vehicles.

 @B6GLCXVanswered…10mos10MO

No, self driving cars once proven as road-legal should start to phase out human drivers. You cannot have both self-driving and human-driven cars at the same time, there would need to be mass communication between all cars AI.

 @B62M2LFGreenanswered…11mos11MO

They shouldn't be allowed. That's the regulation I want off these vehicles. But if they're guaranteed to get used, I want them nowhere near people or other things generally.

 @B5FSG8Yanswered…1yr1Y

Such specific lanes should only be implemented if the number of autonomous vehicles on the roads increases.

 @B2BJWY8answered…1yr1Y

Yes as long as it dose not mean the technology will become worse as it only has to be worried about other autonomous vehicles and not other self driven cars.

 @9ZPK6TLanswered…2yrs2Y

No, autonomous vehicles should not be allowed without complete assurance of their safety, which has not been achieved yet and they appear unsafe.

 @9ZM26SRanswered…2yrs2Y

Why do we need autonomous vehicles? So much development in vehicles that are a detriment to the planet.

 @filly answered…2yrs2Y

No, there is potential for this to happen in the future, however, the UK does not currently have the infrastructure to sustain mass use of electric vehicle's.

 @B5988HJanswered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only as part of a broader strategy that prioritizes and significantly invests in accessible public transportation, dedicated lanes for buses and bicycles, and pedestrian infrastructure, ensuring that autonomous vehicles serve to complement these modes rather than compete with them for road space.

 @9QNHSYHConservativeanswered…2yrs2Y

If they are going to be introduced, they should absolutely have separate lanes, but better not to have them at all.

 @9QM5YTKLabouranswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but it would mean possibly redeveloping the way the roads in the UK are structured. It's a good idea but may need a lot of work to make that work well.

 @9Q9JXH8answered…2yrs2Y

Only if this helps speed the development of autonomous vehicles for all, not make it just for some people to us

 @9Q5SGTXanswered…2yrs2Y

I do not believe in the development of personal autonomous vehicles, however public autonomous vehicles could have special lanes

 @9QPRKMVfrom Tennessee  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but only if autonomous vehicles are allowed in the first place. Caution should be heeded whenever control over potentially dangerous outcomes have increased margin for error, regardless of how minimal an increase.

 @9QCWC7Vanswered…2yrs2Y

I don't think we should have self drive cars... they scare me with the potential damage it could cause

 @9NWVWCDanswered…2yrs2Y

Roads are to congested as it is, these vehicles should not be allowed on roads until they have been proved to be fail proof.

 @9NL5CND answered…2yrs2Y

No, there is limited infrastructure in place already and there is no space that would allow this to take over

 @9N7S8LTGreenanswered…2yrs2Y

 @9N7M42Panswered…2yrs2Y

 @9N72C9Lanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but more testing should be done to deem them safe to pedestrians

 @9N224LH answered…2yrs2Y

No, autonomous vehicles are a pipe-dream and are too difficult to implement on any meaningful scale.

 @9MYDTJ8answered…2yrs2Y

 @9MLNZCFanswered…2yrs2Y

No because autonomous vehicles should be able to drive on any road if the problem is solved correctly

 @9PN5GN5answered…2yrs2Y

Not all cities have the capacity to allow this. Where possible bus lanes should allow autonomous vehicle use

 @9PLDZTKConservative answered…2yrs2Y

No, we love in a world we we are trying to uninvent the invented. Empty cycle lanes everywhere, bus lanes empty, more should be done to help motorists who pay the money. Cyclists, motorcyclists all bk more laws than car drivers. More advancements in areas of electric cars and better funded and reliable public transport

 @9NXXS6Sanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes but not yet, the current priority should be maintaining existing infrastructure, and making hybrid vehicles more fit for purpose and numerous.

 @9N6RXNWanswered…2yrs2Y

No, it shouldn't incentivise autonomous vehicles which will not help ease congestion or reduce emissions

 @9N53D4Danswered…2yrs2Y

Create them when it’s safe enough that people who cannot drive are allowed to operate automated cars.

 @9MWFM54answered…2yrs2Y

 @9MRRXX2Independentanswered…2yrs2Y

I do not support the use of autonomous vehicles. They should be banned.

 @B6GD957answered…10mos10MO

The UK should reject the creation of special lanes for private autonomous vehicles and instead invest in a holistic urban transport policy that prioritizes massive public investment in free or heavily subsidized, high-quality public transport, utilizing autonomous technology to make the public system more efficient and accessible for all citizens.
