US Military Bolsters Africa Presence to Counter Russian Influence and Terrorism

The United States military, under the leadership of Gen.

Michael Langley, is intensifying its counterterrorism efforts in Africa amidst growing concerns over Russia's expanding influence on the continent. The US Africa Command is actively engaging in large-scale exercises, such as the Flintlock operation, aimed at enhancing the counterterrorism capabilities of African forces. These efforts are also designed to offer a strategic alternative to the 'instant gratification' security assistance provided by Moscow, which the US views as destabilizing.

Langley has pointed out that the anti-US sentiment in some African nations is largely fueled by Russian disinformation campaigns, highlighting the geopolitical struggle for influence in the region.
