Former Conservative MP Jonathan Gullis, who lost his Stoke-on-Trent North seat in the recent general election, claims he is struggling to secure a teaching position due to his political views. Gullis, a former secondary school teacher, has pointed to the 'woke agenda' and 'activists in the classroom' as reasons for his difficulties in finding employment. He suggests that his association with the Conservative Party has made it harder for him to re-enter the education sector.

Oh please, classic Tory move – blame the so-called "woke agenda" instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. Maybe if he didn’t spend time pushing divisive policies and attacking teachers, he wouldn’t have such a hard time finding a job now. Schools want people who actually support inclusivity and critical thinking, not someone more focused on culture wars. It’s time to face the consequences of his own rhetoric.
This just proves how deep the woke agenda has infiltrated our schools. Jonathan Gullis is a qualified teacher with real-world experience, but because he doesn’t bow down to the leftist narrative, he’s being blacklisted. It’s no wonder parents are worried about what their kids are being taught when teachers like him are being pushed out. We need to take back control of our education system before it’s too late.
From the man himself: The former humanities teacher and head of year has admitted in interviews he was known as “Grumpy Gullis” during his teaching career because he never smiled, telling The TES in 2020 that his year group was “probably happy to see me go”. Given which, would he be the sort of teacher to bring out the best in children? And if you were interviewing him for a job would that convince you that people would, after all, be glad to see him back?
It's ridiculous that someone like Gullis, with real experience in both education and public service, can't get a teaching job just because he doesn't fit the woke narrative.
