UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is under fire after his government announced a £5 billion cut to welfare spending. The move has sparked a rebellion among Labour MPs, who argue the cuts could push vulnerable people into poverty. During Prime Minister’s Questions, Starmer faced tough criticism from Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, who also attacked the government over planned National Insurance hikes. Some MPs questioned whether Labour’s policies were any different from the Conservatives they replaced. The debate highlights growing tensions within the Labour Party over economic policy and social welfare.

Cutting welfare is a step in the right direction, but if they’re just going to hike taxes elsewhere, it’s the same old big-government nonsense.
So much for Labour being the party of working people—Starmer is just serving up Tory-lite austerity while the most vulnerable pay the price. If this is what “change” looks like, it’s no wonder people are losing faith in politics.
