The Taliban has released American citizen George Glezmann after more than two years in detention in Afghanistan.
His release was facilitated through negotiations involving the U.S. and Qatari officials. Glezmann, an airline mechanic from Atlanta, was detained by the Taliban's intelligence services in December 2022 and was later designated as wrongfully detained by the U.S. government. His freedom marks the third such release of an American detainee by the Taliban since January.
He is now on his way back to the United States.
