This is exactly what happens when you prioritize criminals over law and order—early release for serious offenders is a slap in the face to victims and their families. If prisons are overcrowded, build more; don’t empty them out and put the public at risk.

Maybe if the government didn't try to lock people up for every little thing, they wouldn't be stuck deciding whether to release actual violent criminals early. This is what happens when you trade liberty for control—nobody ends up safer.

Honestly, this is what happens when you ignore criminal justice reform for decades—now the system is bursting at the seams. Releasing people early for good behavior, even serious offenders, shouldn't be controversial if we believe in rehabilitation over endless punishment. The real scandal is how successive governments have underfunded alternatives to incarceration and ignored root causes like poverty and mental health. Maybe now we'll finally have a conversation about building a justice system that actually works for society, instead of just locking people up forever.
