Alaska Officially Declares March as Women's History Month

The Alaska State Legislature has passed Senate Bill 43, officially designating March as Women's History Month in state law.

The bill encourages schools, community groups, and public and private organizations to recognize and celebrate the contributions of women to both Alaska and the United States. The measure passed with strong bipartisan support in a 33-2 vote. Supporters say the move is a step toward honoring the often-overlooked achievements of women throughout history.

It remains to be seen whether Governor Mike Dunleavy will sign the bill into law.
