Honestly, I’m really disappointed in the BBC for giving Douglas Murray airtime, especially considering his track record of inflammatory rhetoric. There’s a huge difference between promoting free speech and handing a megaphone to people who stoke division and spread harmful stereotypes. The media has a responsibility to not legitimize hate or make marginalized communities feel less safe. At the very least, the BBC owes British Muslims—and all of us—a real explanation for this decision.

So now just interviewing someone with controversial opinions is grounds for outrage? If people don’t like what Douglas Murray has to say, they’re free to debate him or turn off the TV—free speech means hearing views you might not like.
