A UK High Court has ruled that the estate of Mike Lynch, the late founder of Autonomy, and his former business partner must pay over £700 million ($940 million) to Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). The judgment follows HPE's claim that it suffered massive losses due to fraud in its $11 billion acquisition of Autonomy in 2011. Lynch, who died in a yachting accident in 2024, was found liable for misleading HP about Autonomy's financial health.
The ruling is expected to bankrupt Lynch's estate, marking one of the largest corporate fraud cases in UK history.
Lynch's representatives have hinted at a possible appeal.
