A UK High Court has ruled that the estate of the late tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his former business partner must pay over £700 million (about $940 million) to Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). The case stems from HPE's 2011 acquisition of Lynch's company, Autonomy, which resulted in massive losses for HPE due to alleged fraud and misrepresentation.
Lynch, who died in a yachting accident in 2024, had denied wrongdoing, but the court found in favor of HPE. The ruling is likely to bankrupt Lynch's estate, marking one of the largest corporate fraud judgments in UK history.
Lynch's representatives have hinted at a possible appeal.
