A UK High Court has ruled that the estate of the late British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his former business partner must pay Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) over £700 million (about $940 million) in damages.
The case stems from HPE's 2011 acquisition of Lynch's company, Autonomy, which HPE claimed was based on fraudulent misrepresentations. The ruling comes nearly a year after Lynch died in a superyacht accident. The massive damages award is expected to bankrupt Lynch's estate.
Lynch's representatives have indicated they may appeal the decision.
