The United States and Indonesia have reached a major trade agreement that will eliminate tariffs on over 99% of American goods entering Indonesia and remove most non-tariff barriers.
In return, the US will impose a 19% tariff on Indonesian exports, down from a previously threatened 32%. The deal is expected to open at least $50 billion in new market access for US commodities, including agricultural products, and will see Indonesia lift export restrictions on critical minerals. Indonesia has also committed to significant purchases of US goods, such as agricultural products and Boeing jets.
This agreement is being hailed as a 'huge win' for American businesses and marks a new era in US-Indonesia economic relations.
