Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a significant exchange of prisoners of war and the repatriation of bodies of fallen soldiers during their latest round of peace talks in Istanbul.
Both sides will exchange around 1,200 prisoners each, including seriously ill and long-held captives, and Russia has returned the bodies of 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers. Despite these humanitarian agreements, the talks yielded no progress toward a ceasefire or a direct meeting between Presidents Zelensky and Putin. Ukraine continues to push for a leaders' summit, while Russia has only proposed brief ceasefires for humanitarian purposes.
The ongoing exchanges highlight limited cooperation amid otherwise stalled negotiations and continued conflict.
