Rome Prepares for Massive Global Catholic Youth Jubilee: Over Half a Million Expected

Rome is set to host the Jubilee of Youth, a major Catholic event drawing more than 500,000 young people from 146 countries from July 28 to August 3. The weeklong celebration, part of the 2025 Holy Year, will feature religious gatherings, vigils, and special access to the Holy Doors of the Papal Basilicas.

The event aims to foster hope, fraternity, and peace among youth in a world marked by conflict. Pilgrims from countries as diverse as South Korea, Egypt, South Africa, and the United States are making the journey, with many dioceses organizing group trips and livestreams for those unable to attend.

Rome is implementing extensive security and logistical measures to accommodate the influx, making this one of the largest Catholic youth gatherings in recent history.
