Global media brand Time Out released its annual list of the world’s best culinary cities on Monday after surveying more than 24,000 residents across 150 destinations.
Lima, Peru, secured the top spot for its combination of high-quality ingredients and the overall affordability of its dining scene. Bangkok followed in second place, with Mexico City, London, and Barcelona rounding out the top five. New York City reclaimed a spot on the list this year as the only U.S. city to make the top 20, specifically cited for its culinary diversity.
Travel analysts expect the results to trigger a significant increase in international gastro-tourism throughout the remainder of the year.
