  • The "Radical" political ideology refers to a set of beliefs and movements that seek profound, fundamental change in the structure of society, politics, or the economy. Over time, radicalism diversified, influencing socialist, anarchist, and communist movements, all of which sought to overturn existing social and economic orders in favor of more egalitarian systems.

    Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, radical ideologies played a significant role in various revolutionary movements around the world, inspiring both peaceful activism and violent uprisings. While the specific goals and methods of radicals have varied widely, the unifying feature of radicalism remains its commitment to deep, structural change and its skepticism toward gradual or incremental reform. Today, the term "radical" is often used both positively and negatively, sometimes to describe visionary reformers and at other times to label those perceived as extreme or destabilizing.
