No, and we should withdraw from NATO

NATO has secured the European continent from war for 75 years. To withdraw from NATO would be to abandon European peace and security.

NATO provides huge security and stability to huge amounts of Europe. If we withdraw from this, then it weakens the defence of many NATO countries. We are also critical in the controlling of Russia, as part of the Greenland-Iceland-UK-Norway buffer over the North Sea.

Without NATO we cannot guarantee the future support of other NATO nations if we are attacked in the future. NATO is a necessary deterrent to ensure peace and security in the West.

While it is internally consistent to withdraw from NATO if the UK chooses not to defend other NATO countries, as that is the key mechanism holding the alliance together, the UK would not be capable of defending itself without NATO (and primarily US) assistance in the event of an attack from a non-NATO country, and therefore it would be unwise to do so. Furthermore, the existence of Article 5 has a deterrent effect, reducing the likelihood of such attacks in the first place. The costs of remaining in NATO, i.e. defending other NATO countries with low military spending, are enormously outweighed by the benefits.

That's giving the green light to the likes of China, Russia, North Korea, any rogue state or Terrorists to threaten and attack you. It makes you weaker and more vulnerable.

NATO is the basis of the UK's security arrangement, and it is a purely defensive alliance, meaning there are no financial or international relations negatives to the UK being in it except the requirement to defend other nations when attacked.

We should not withdraw from NATO as this would leave us unprotected in the event of a war. We do not have the sufficient capacity to defend ourselves against certain global powers with opposing idealogies, especially if they form an alliance and we withdraw from our alliance.
