Currently UK trains are operated by private franchises and the tracks are operated by the government. Proponents argue that the system would run more efficiently if the tracks and trains were operated by private entities. Opponents of privatization claim that a single government train system would end the disruptions caused by the fractured franchise system.

One national operator to manage the track. Another national operator to run intercity services. Local and regional services to be operated by local authorities

operate more concessions where the government takes for risk and also the government is for one responsible for the tracks but the time to operated by a private company but otherwise it should be nationalised

@9BWRGQW2yrs2Y
Yes but with government oversight.
If it's cost effective and is price capped, with low fees, then yes

Yes but more regulation should be added as to the rules regarding tickets, profit reinvestment and interaction between national rail and the rail companies.

@8SJH59WPlaid Cymru4yrs4Y
A mixture of public and private ownership
@929RR973yrs3Y
Some privatisation should be allowed when beneficial to the local area in the long term, and the government should own the tracks
@8Y47N6G3yrs3Y
Don’t care aslong it’s cheaper, cost me 200£ to get to London on the train
Nationalise and subsidise worker co-ops to take over the railways
@8VZC5FF4yrs4Y
Co-operation of govt and private sector
@8TGHRV24yrs4Y
No, publicises public transport.
@8T7XJP34yrs4Y
No, but keep the rail franchising system
@8T6R22X4yrs4Y
The national railway needs transforming and updating. I would back either stance if this was achieved. A fast and up to date system would reduce the strain on the road network and reduce emissions.
