A second house staffed with technical balanced representation to freely scrutinise legislation and policy is essential but it must be divorced from heraldry and be for fixed terms

They should be picked randomly from those eligible to sit there as to who gets to sit there on any given day.

No, but it should be heavily reformed (complete removal of hereditary peers, making all Lords reapply for their positions and only giving it to those who are qualified to provide specialist advice to the government, independent commission appoints Lords and not the PM, ect.)

No, so long as it is an elected body. If not, off with its head, as it is totally un democratic and should not be legal in the 21st century world.

No but more powers should be transferred to the house of commons as that is a wholly elected body.

Yes the house of lords is a way of how the rich control British politics

 @9BJNJBCanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes it is another way thr rich try to control government we need Lords and commons to unite into a single parliament

It is a very nuanced statement. While they are undemocratic they are still important in scrutinising and regulating the Prime Minister and the cabinet. For example the law regarding a vertical border between Britain and the whole of Ireland which Liz Truss attempted to pass, which was shut down by the house of lords.

Reform the Lords to be composed of term-limited members appointed by an independent panel including local council representatives and those with experience in the judiciary, policing and business, amongst other areas.
