100% no. That would be a horrific idea. Ban firearms altogether and make the punishments more severe.

 @B223CKP from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

I think yes, but it should also be required that a guard has a gun, as well that the it is a right in the constitution to bear arms.

 @9WQKFWKanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes and I believe in deregulating gun legislation to allow more British Citizens the right to keep and bear arms in accordance to the English Bill of Rights 1689.

 @9BHY88Wcommented…3yrs3Y

Why is this a question on a UK quiz?? It should be removed, no one is able to carry guns, especially not in a school. The only guns are rifles and they're too big to be just carried around for no reason, they're too big to be concealed either. Dumb question to be honest.

 @BDKT3D6answered…1mo1MO

Only in certain circumstances where a trained professional with no criminal background or psychological problems can access it.

 @B9M22BNConservative answered…5mos5MO

WHY WOULD THEY NEED GUNS? The teachers could accidentally shoot a student, my past teachers wouldn't even hurt a fly, so there is no point. They should have a bat maybe, or a smoke bomb, or a flashbang, just in case something does actually go wrong.

 @B9J8XKV answered…5mos5MO

school shootings are not common enough in the UK to require armed protection, this is only relevant to the united states

 @B8XTRPLanswered…6mos6MO

I absolutely do not agree with teachers carrying firearms. The idea is completely unacceptable and deeply troubling. Introducing guns into schools would only increase the risk of harm and fear in an environment that should be safe and secure.

However, I do believe there should be access to violence-prevention measures that are non-lethal, such as tasers, defensive sprays, and panic alarms. These tools could allow staff to protect themselves and students in extreme situations without introducing deadly force. Any such measures would require strict training, clear protocols, and proper oversight…  Read more

In addition, I believe all school entry and exit points should be monitored. The use of metal detectors capable of identifying firearms and hazardous materials could significantly reduce the risk of weapons being brought onto school grounds and act as a strong preventative measure.

 @B85RTS9answered…8mos8MO

Yes, but teachers must undergo extensive firearms and CCW (concealed carry weapons) training if they wish to carry concealed on school premises.

 @B53B2JY answered…1yr1Y

All handguns are banned in the UK, so this question does not appear to be relevant. And there should be extremely severe penalties for anyone caught with one, in every circumstance.

 @B3H865QReform UKanswered…1yr1Y

No, this would increase the risk of shootings, hire professionally trained security guards for schools that need it instead.

 @B2WS4VNWomen's Equality answered…1yr1Y

No

Wtf! Kind of a question is that? High crime etc schools should have tough security teams to protect the teachers and pupils. The pupils that are a nuisance, then National Service should be an immediate decision.

 @B25V9LWanswered…1yr1Y

Guns? Guns! What sort of a question is that? I thought this was a UK-centric quiz, this question is just silly.

 @9QLYZD9answered…2yrs2Y

No, but schools in high risk or gang related crime areas should probably have some kind of security.

 @9QHMH9Danswered…2yrs2Y

No the uk should not have access to guns legally but more thought to protection within schools should be considered

 @9PN53TQLabouranswered…2yrs2Y

No, only the most highly trained and regulated professionals should be allowed to carry guns. Guns should also not be in public view unless absolutely necessary

 @9PG84CHanswered…2yrs2Y

No, but training for all staff should be available as to what to do in the event of a knife/gun/bomb threat.

 @9JZM429 answered…2yrs2Y

No, however I think security guards should be more of a thing, a taser is enough to take down a potential criminal in a school.

 @9J6VSLYanswered…2yrs2Y

No, firearms should be legal to own for law abiding, British subjects, as long as they are stored safely in the home. They are not currently needed to protect UK schools as this is the job of the police, not private citizens.

 @9HQT4ZJanswered…2yrs2Y

No, as it stands in the UK there is no active threat or problem surrounding gun violence in schools. In the case of the US, increasing gun control and regulation around the ownership of guns (such as restricting people under the age of 21 from purchasing firearms) will prove to be a more effective solution to gun violence within schools - teachers carrying guns to 'shoot back' simply won't work.

 @9FXCWMW answered…3yrs3Y

No, because the UK doesn't have a gun violence problem at the moment. If it does, the MAXIMUM should allow teacher or headteachers to be trained to handle lasers or tasers

 @9F3SPQ3answered…3yrs3Y

No, children would get shot on a daily basis if teachers had guns.

 @9BTJW4Sanswered…3yrs3Y

 @9HG5PF8answered…3yrs3Y

It depends as primary school i think no secondary school i say depends on where the area is and if the gun is safety locked

 @9G5MCLJanswered…3yrs3Y

Hire professionally trained guards, armed with non-lethal weapons, as if they were armed the risk of accidental shootings would increase exponentially.

 @9NCKQ7CLibertariananswered…2yrs2Y

If the risk of terrorist action to our children increases, then professionally trained, armed security guards should be utilised. However, the risk of terrorist action must outweigh the risk of having firearms in schools.

 @9N67JG4answered…2yrs2Y

No, surely this will instill in children that the only way to properly protect themselves is to own and carry a gun. This is not America, we do not need school shooting rates like America.

 @9MYXHM9Count Binfaceanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, I believe in some specific schools where the prerequisite for student entry is awful/violent behaviour at standard schools previously on their record. But gun safety courses must be provided and any misconduct from a teacher should result in them being banned from teaching/ investigated criminally

 @9P4GG7Fanswered…2yrs2Y

I think items such as pepper spray and taser guns should be available in schools and possibly employ professionally trained security guards

 @9NW7YW9Reform UKanswered…2yrs2Y

school shootings might happen if guns are allowed because peoples guns might be taken for the wrong reasons

 @9NSLXLCanswered…2yrs2Y

This is not really relevant for schools in my area. It would be absurd to even suggest teachers have guns, or security guards are required.

 @9NNQ6ZNanswered…2yrs2Y

No! Schools should be a place of safety. Giving teachers guns would normalise it for young people and increase gun crime and deaths. Our gun laws should remain the same.

 @9NY8S3Nanswered…2yrs2Y

Teachers have enough pressure as it is without adding this to their shoulders. No guns should be carried in the UK except by trained military/ police

 @9PXL2XK answered…2yrs2Y

No, there should be a government system that can provide security services to schools within reason for example one highly trained armed guard that doesn’t just wander around school where anyone can grab the weapon when they aren’t looking

 @9MCYNVJanswered…2yrs2Y

Carry 'warning guns' which can make someone sevrely injured or unconsion, and by a trained security guard.

 @9Q3XKT3answered…2yrs2Y

Maybe as if there is someone with a gun breaking into a school then they are prepared for what ever happens.

 @8QJZ4MNanswered…5yrs5Y

No, because guns aren't allowed in general and they should stay that way

 @8QFGDMGanswered…5yrs5Y

No, that will add fear to the students which is not fair, nor beneficial and encourage gun crime to those who are easily influenced.

 @8Q6SKLSanswered…5yrs5Y

No, but security guards maybe armed so long as they have psychological assessments first before taking up arms

 @8FC6866answered…6yrs6Y

Yes, either this or have hired security or both. Just have good people with guns and teach children about firearms.

 @8YG7WN8answered…4yrs4Y

If the police and other state armed forces are permitted guns so should citizens.

 @8SKC3HZanswered…5yrs5Y

No, the government should do more to ensure that school children at risk

 @8GWFWGQanswered…6yrs6Y

 @8WHH7VManswered…5yrs5Y

It is the schools option to give them soft and free environment or a secure environment to protect others or being naughty in class.

 @DAVIEBrexitanswered…5yrs5Y

This policy has nothing to do with Britain. Things would currently stay as they are, unless a petition was successful in getting a vote via Liquid Democracy.

 @8VMN5MBanswered…5yrs5Y

 @8TNKLWJanswered…5yrs5Y

 @8SVM5L4answered…5yrs5Y

No, there is no need, for students cannot take any firearm to school.

 @8SM3D3KLabouranswered…5yrs5Y

No absolutely not. If absolutely needed security guards can be put in to schools but absolutely not with weapons as this encourages pupils to be armed

 @99ZB597answered…3yrs3Y

No this is not only a foolish idea but also terrible, Imagine a teacher being armed with a gun. school shootings may arise again and you can't trust people with guns Look at the USA they made guns legal in 1791 law moreover look at school shooters Armed with a Firearm and killing students and teachers

 @98N6MBYanswered…3yrs3Y

No it is illegal for people in the UK to carry guns in public - it is ridiculous to allow teachers to carry them as there is no risk of gun violence in schools. Also no one should ever be allowed to carry guns.

 @96JM2GFanswered…4yrs4Y

For the UK and the gun culture here such a thing isn't needed however for the US it should however mandatory training and checkups should be instated.

 @95XVTMTanswered…4yrs4Y

depends what country your in. if its in America then yes, but only trained professionals.

 @95DGGLCConservativeanswered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but the staff should be fully trained and have good standing as a teacher and have a clean criminal record.

 @94KTJLGanswered…4yrs4Y

 @945K7TRLiberal Democratanswered…4yrs4Y

Guns should not be easily accessible for anybody, strict gun control should be a necessity.

 @93VGXT3answered…4yrs4Y

Nobody should have the right to own a gun except the authorities who should only be allowed to use them in extreme circumstances having passed many checks and authorizations

 @93RMBW3answered…4yrs4Y

No, we should be doing everything we can to reduce the amount of guns in our country

 @93PYWFRanswered…4yrs4Y

One gun per school where only staff can find incase of an emergency

 @92RMQDZanswered…4yrs4Y

No, but invest in further security measures to ensure student's safety

 @8X83QNYanswered…5yrs5Y

 @9M2PXJLanswered…2yrs2Y

No

Absolutely not. Fewer guns should be in circulation. That’s the best way to avoid shootings.
