Gay couples are human. Straight couples are human. What's the difference? So long as everyone's consenting, it's alright.

Denying same-sex couples the right to marry and instead offering civil unions suggests that their relationships are somehow inferior. Not allowing gay marriage does not promote equality and therefore this cannot be right.

Marriage should be accessible for everyone and should not have to be a seperate thing simply because the couple are of the same sex. Every culture has a different style of marriage with differences to the traditional Western version of marriage and they are no less valid then the Western marriages and the same applies to a difference to traditional Western marriages being that the couples are of the same sex.

I think that it doesnt matter what gender you are marrying - if you are committing life to somebody then it is marriage despite what gender's they are.
I believe that civil unions and gay marriage should be available so people can decide between the two unions they would like.

Marriage already comes with many different versions there is no need to strictly control who does it

This is just attempt to separate people and make concessions to reaffirm that queer people are less than.

It’s marriage and they should always be allowed to call it that, not allowing them to call it marriage implies their relationships aren’t as strong or important, when they are of equal importance to straight relationships
@9P4NHWS11mos11MO
Giving only straight people the right to marry created a hierarchy and effectively treats queer people as second-class-citizens which is incompatible with human rights. Also the definition of marriage as being between mand woman is again based on religion which should be kept out of politics

To myself, in the younger generation, bith are signs of commitment but marriage is q beautiful label to show loyalty and solidarity

Don't be so petty, get over yourselves. Separate but equal? How about this, don't be a douchebag. If it bothers you so much, how about you pick another word for your marriage that you are comfortable with making special so that way you can feel good about yourself and above everyone else
@9P6FW5C11mos11MO
We are largely a secular society and marriage is not defined that way by the state. Your argument is irrelevant.

I would support this, if it goes together with a full removal of marriage as a legal status. Banning people from marrying for whatever reason not rationally supported on an individual level goes against the principle of individual equal rights.
