In 2021 there were approximately 6.0 million people with non-British nationality living in the UK and 9.6 million people who were born abroad. The UK’s migrant population is concentrated in London. Around 35% of people living in the UK who were born abroad live in London.
@9JWRHL93mos3MO
No, but the system needs a total revamp. Additionally, the rights of migrants who have already settled in Britain should be secure.
@9HGPB7X5mos5MO
No, but train citizens in jobs and make wages and benefits such that immigrant workers are not so necessary
@8ZHZMNC2yrs2Y
No, make the current point based system more lenient especially for refugees
@8ZHHKFY2yrs2Y
No and make the current point based system more lenient especially for refugees
@9M744DC18hrs18H
We should have a quick and efficient immigration policy. We should accept people and get them working, or send them elsewhere if their claim fails, really promptly
@9M5SRVF3 days3D
No - in fact they should make it easier for the reunification of families & not use it as a money making scheme to pay off our debts.
@9M5RZFY3 days3D
Yes, to prioritise young working families or couples who intend to stay in the UK, with a limitation on the money they can send back home to keep spending within the UK.
@9M5CYVH3 days3D
Allow people to come, learn, work and be productive members of the community would be a better way of helping support immigrants. Obviously anyone who has committed a criminal offence should be deported.
@9M4LX374 days4D
The government should NOT be pushing away migration, it helps boost our economy and provides a diverse and cultural community to the nation. Most criminals are not immigrants, and we are being lied to by Rishi sunak. BRING IN THE IMMIGRANTS!
No, UK without immigrants would have more of a declining population therefore helping in the long run, however there should be more to stop any immediate/violent immigrants.
@9M47XPZ4 days4D
We should move to a points based system - where those with skills we need most are prioritised and we can keep immigration to a sustainable level. We need immigration but there is a balance to ensure infrastructure can keep up
@9M44LXY4 days4D
People should be allowed to travel freely but as long as they pay equal taxes and do not have a bad criminal record.
@9M42LJZLiberal Democrat4 days4D
Yes, with regular criminal background checks being processed and regular reviews to ensure citizens productive input to the economy
@9M3N26J5 days5D
Too many people in such a small country will cause problems for the future ,not racist but can only accommodate what resources allow
Protect those who need protecting. We shouldn't shut our boarders, they come for protection but also protect us citizens here too.
@9M3GGTM5 days5D
yes we have too many immigrants, yes it could be a lot worse, yes i think we should have less but i don’t want people dying because they can’t get the help or a place to stay
@9M3DCXS5 days5D
No. We need functional methods of processing immigrants and asylum claimants so we can quietly and accurately determine who should be allowed in and also provide safe methods of refusal. The "gangs" are created by bad policy.
@9M39BFW5 days5D
No convicted criminals should be allowed into the country. Immigration brings in many benefits, but if you can’t behave in your homeland you should not be allowed into ours.
@9M36X4T5 days5D
Immigrants should be allowed to enter, so long as they are not deemed a possible danger and become a productive member of society if possible/able to.
@9M3675R5 days5D
Yes they must prove their agenda to reside in the uk and and clear plan on how to provide for them selves when they arrive, review and steps to deport if they haven’t made any attempt to do so since being in the uk
@9M34ZGF5 days5D
Yes, but only for the illegal immigrants, those who come to the UK through the proper channels should have a fair opportunity to live and work here, those that try to enter illegally should be sent back to the last country they came from
@9M32MZ25 days5D
I think we should, only to have more control of inflow and be able to accept only as many people as our services can handle adequately per year (e.g. without too much sacrifice or changes to waiting times in the NHS, etc.). I think refugees and skilled workers should be prioritised in inflow, and these people should be supported and reviewed regularly to ensure that the transition in moving for them is smooth, so that they can achieve their potential in flourishing in this country, to become employed and work and be able to provide for their families
@9M2Q5QN5 days5D
The home office needs funding to adequately deal fairly with people and allow those fleeing to work.
@9M22QVB6 days6D
Yes but ease rules for skilled workers and those that have family already resident here who put up a 100k bail that is refundable after 5 years if the person has contributed meaningfully to UK taxes and has remained in the law.
@9M22DYH6 days6D
I don't think it matters what the policy is. If people need to migrate legally or illegally due to war etc. they will
@9LZWB746 days6D
No, re-open safer pathways for refugees, regularly review cases before and after asylum is granted and let them work sooner rather than later.
@9LZBQMQ6 days6D
Discourage illegal immigration by making it easier to apply for visas or asylum in embassies or consulates in cities that migrants commonly travel through while providing work and shelter for them.
@9LY4RSF1wk1W
Providing a welcome to non economic refugees is a moral obligation. But yes Criminal checks are of course a good idea.
@9LVFCWH2wks2W
Yes, make process easier for skilled works AND review immigrants to ensure they're productive citizens
@9LVDDCS2wks2W
no, home as many immigrants as possible without a significant cost or disadvantage to british citizens
@9LTW8W92wks2W
We need immigrants that are skilled, but they are being punished for the acts of illegals. Decent people should be assisted, not charged excessive sums to come to help us, but criminals blocked completely.
@9LT7K8J2wks2W
Screen for criminal backgrounds on one hand but make the process easier for genuine refugees and skilled workers
@9LSPHL42wks2W
remove the immigration process. You’re here, you’ve seen what it’s like and you still want to stay? That’s the spirit.
@9LSDX2G2wks2W
Yes, we need to review our immigration policy so immigrants are not exploited and our country can support its citizens and immigrants equally
@9LS7VYJ 2wks2W
Yes and no because less immigrants will lower the economy which can increase interest rates and taxes whereas more immigrants raise the economy and more immigrants creates higher demand for products etc...
@9LS52342wks2W
Yes. Strictly screen for criminals and regularly review whether they are positively having an effect. Those with skilled work requirements should be welcomed.
@9LS3PNF2wks2W
I agree with both screening for criminal backgrounds and reviewing them regularly but to also reduce the amount looking to get in as the economy and housing for UK residents is greatly affected.
@9LRY3VP2wks2W
Yes, improve processing speed and access for genuine asylum and immigration applications. Illegal entry automatic rejection but must have legal safe route accessible alternatives in place to argue that illegal entry is not necessary for immigrants with genuine intent..
@9LRJ6HD2wks2W
We need skilled and unskilled people and our uk won’t do manual jobs so we need them. Vet them strictly and allow it if they pass
@9LR27X62wks2W
We should allow anyone who is willing to contribute to our society, to move here. Faster processes for skilled workers in job shortages too. Immigration is needed!
@9L7SVGM1mo1MO
They should stop meddling and destabilising countries across the world first, which creates the problem in the first place.
Allow legal migrants into the country, as they can benefit the economy, while also doing background checks on them
@9L6RJDN1mo1MO
yes but on due o the fact that man people pass through safe countries just to come to the uk for its benefits which puts a strain on the economy, realistically other countries should accept more people and change a few of their rules
@9L2JL9XConservative2mos2MO
Yes, But Make It Easier For Skilled Workers And Monitor Them To See If They Are Being Productive Citizens.
@9L2227H2mos2MO
The government should encourage people already in UK to train up in areas where there are labour shortages
@9KYXSZP2mos2MO
No but because the government doesn’t deal with illegal immigrants in the right way, they should provide them with jobs and programmes to improve their CV
@9KTHZZZ2mos2MO
We should have better programmes to integrate refugees into British society and we should target migration at industries that face labour shortages.
@9KSXJKFPlaid Cymru2mos2MO
Immigration is fine. But emigration should be restricted - particularly Anglo Saxons moving from London to the promised land of the Welsh Riviera
@9KSX9TG2mos2MO
I am in a mixed stance to where none of these really are how I feel, I feel there is more to do in stopping say those who intend to cause harm, but we shouldn't hurt the innocent because of it.
@9KPNF6S2mos2MO
No, the process should be easier for refugees but there should be stricter screening of violent criminals
