Animal testing is the use of non-human animals in experiments that seek to control the variables that affect the behavior or biological system under study. The United Kingdom was the first country in the world to implement laws protecting animals. In 1822 an Act to Prevent the Cruel and Improper Treatment of Cattle was passed by Parliament. The UK government has publicly stated that animals are sentient beings, not merely commodities, and has confirmed its commitment to the highest possible standards of animal welfare. Animal Welfare Act, an overhaul of pet abuse laws replacing the Protection of Animals Act, came into force in England and Wales in 2007.

Yes, but not for cosmetics, and companies doing animal testing should be required to fund research into alternatives
@9PLPVZM9mos9MO
Define animal. Drosphila are routinely used and few would mind about that. My answer depends on the specific case.
@9L9RM3912mos12MO
No animal testing. Convicted violent criminals should be used instead. And no testing should be needed for cosmetics.
@9FJBXR42yrs2Y
There should be another way to test these drugs for safe use, but in the meantime only allow testing on less emotionally intelligent animals
@9FDVGJT2yrs2Y
Yes but not if the risk to life or injury is likely.( if they would feel safe to test it on humans)
I am ambivalent on this . Definitely not for cosmetics but life saving vaccines or anti cancer drugs ..
Potentially in the case of medical devices and vaccines but never cosmetics
@9QTS6G49mos9MO
It depends, it should be limited if other options are available like modeling, but I do not feel like I have enough knowledge of the topic to say it should be banned.
@9NTNKTY 10mos10MO
No, just if other methods like computer simulations don't work for that specific drug and not for cosmetics
@9NTNKTY 10mos10MO
Yes, but just if other methods like computer simulations don't work for that specific drug and not for cosmetics
@9MV5Z7L10mos10MO
Animal testing should be banned for any industry provided a proven and reliable cruelty-free alternative exists.
@cafebabe2yrs2Y
Yes, but only under exceptional circumstances
@95MMGZQ3yrs3Y
If dire then yes with medicine but no with cosmetics and devices
@92D3SNB3yrs3Y
Only if there is no available alternative, and absolutely not for cosmetics
@8ZJCW5B3yrs3Y
criminals who are pedophiles rapists serial killers etc should be used instead
@8Y2LN9C3yrs3Y
No agreement on this one
@8XT3NJM3yrs3Y
As little as necessary to progress research. Needs further debate
@8SPSKDX4yrs4Y
No cause that how we have covid
Use animals in a way so they feel no pain and it should be highly regulated
@8SNY2XQ4yrs4Y
Yes, but only where the risks of animal suffering are minimal
@8SJGYM74yrs4Y
Definitely not for cosmetic testing. As for medical testing only in cases of extreme need (e.g. cancer treatments) & once they are in final stages of testing. Setup initiatives in correctional facilities for inmates to volunteer for testing. They should receive monetary compensation (to be given upon release) and it should count as hours served towards community service.
@8S7QPPCLiberal Democrat4yrs4Y
Yes for medical but under very strick ethical guidelines
@8S77MMLConservative4yrs4Y
yes, but only if it won't harm the animals
Only when absolutely necessary for the health of humans
@8S3QLQH4yrs4Y
Only under exceptional conditions
@8RNP9XGLiberal Democrat4yrs4Y
Rarely only if mass human life is at threat
@8RLQGQF4yrs4Y
it should be avoided unless completely necessary.
Yes, but heavily regulated.
@8RCBCJ54yrs4Y
only if it is necessary, we should try to avoid it as much as possible
@8R5ZP4Y4yrs4Y
Animals should not be used for testing cosmetics, and should only be used for testing the safety of medicine when it’s absolutely necessary
@8R58XD64yrs4Y
I believe that the safe testing on lab born rodents is okay if its for the better understanding on diseases. I am not okay with cosmetic testing.
@8QVYZ794yrs4Y
It is necessary for some products such like vaccines and medical advancements however animals should not be tested on for things like cosmetics.
@8QFL4JG4yrs4Y
Yes, but only when it would prevent more suffering than it causes.
@8QDMKHP4yrs4Y
Yes if Extramural regulated with strict Minimum confidence threshold
yes to drugs, vaccines and medical devices. No to cosmetics
@8Q77LG94yrs4Y
Why not use humams with their full capacity
@8Q5RS2T4yrs4Y
Only if it will save a lot of lives
@8Q4QX6Q4yrs4Y
If it means it can cure horrific human diseases then yes, they can be tested on animals
@8PTPP7J4yrs4Y
Only if there is no non-animal test available.
@8M7NYSDLiberal Democrat4yrs4Y
Yes, but more funding should be used to find alternative
@9BFSHTR2yrs2Y
Yes, but not for cosmetics and should only be as a last resort after all other options have been explored.
@99KYLMF2yrs2Y
Only if painless to the animal.
@99C92GC2yrs2Y
Animals with short life spans that do not have high emotional intelligence
@998DG5D2yrs2Y
Only if no other method is available
@97Z78VH2yrs2Y
Use laboratory grown cells
@97QQR3SConservative2yrs2Y
Yes, if these could be life saving
@97NDL2X2yrs2Y
Only if its to help a disease threatening the species being tested on
Not for cosmetics and only if the animals aren't made to suffer and have good living standards.
@8XTFF683yrs3Y
For all the above but cosmetics.
