Animal testing is the use of non-human animals in experiments that seek to control the variables that affect the behavior or biological system under study. The United Kingdom was the first country in the world to implement laws protecting animals. In 1822 an Act to Prevent the Cruel and Improper Treatment of Cattle was passed by Parliament. The UK government has publicly stated that animals are sentient beings, not merely commodities, and has confirmed its commitment to the highest possible standards of animal welfare. Animal Welfare Act, an overhaul of pet abuse laws replacing the Protection of Animals Act, came into force in England and Wales in 2007.

Not cosmetics and under very strict and humane conditions for medical testing if no other way exists
@9NDWM6KLibertarian10mos10MO
Cosmetics would be okay as you can wash it off but anything that is injected into animals should be banned
@9N4TVPG10mos10MO
only in the absence of a reasonable alternative and only if the animals are also allowed to benefit from the findings from such research
No, everything should be tested on consenting human adults (regardless of how much this will cost the companies).
@9P9Y5FL10mos10MO
Definately not for cosmetics. With regard to medicine, only where it cannot be done by any other means. Human volunteers would be better.
@9NTNKTY 10mos10MO
No, just if other methods like computer simulations don't work for that specific drug and not for cosmetics
@9NTNKTY 10mos10MO
Yes, but just if other methods like computer simulations don't work for that specific drug and not for cosmetics
@9MRW3D810mos10MO
Prisoners that are in for life should be given the opportunity to earn pay from this. Save the animals
@9FLDSG92yrs2Y
Yes, as long as it does not actively put the animal at harm
@9BKZX7T2yrs2Y
The animal's saftey should be of utmost importance and relevance; It should be the first priority before any other testing.
@965ZKSV2yrs2Y
yes as long as its cruelty free and not for cosmetics.
@95QCPLVLibertarian3yrs3Y
Depends if it harms the animal
@95NY8ZB3yrs3Y
only if it’s not too risky
@8Z37G7N3yrs3Y
Vital medicines, drugs and vaccines for health purposes
@8YGPVBF3yrs3Y
If its for the animals then yes
@8YG377C3yrs3Y
More modelling and tissue cultures should be used. I abhor the testing on our brothers and sisters in our universe.
@8XXZSDBLibertarian3yrs3Y
Definitely not for cosmetics, and only if the vaccine or medicine will be essential in saving hundreds of thousands of lives
@8XVZMJS3yrs3Y
Yes, but not for cosmetics and if possible test on animals who could benefit from those drugs being tested.
@8XM4LKB3yrs3Y
Only if it saves more lives than does it kill
@8XJC7G23yrs3Y
I feel that cosmetic testing should be banned however testing ethically for vaccines and drugs may be necessary
@8X2BC853yrs3Y
only for certain experiments
Yes but should ensure maximum animal safety when doing so and potentially find different ways before using animals
@8VH93N54yrs4Y
Yes, but to a certain extent it is harming animals..
@8SMFMYD4yrs4Y
Only where absolutely necessary to save lives. Strict animal welfare regulations should be in place to minimise animal suffering
@8RQCYH34yrs4Y
only for medical uses not cosmetics
@8RGRW4M4yrs4Y
No, animals may react similarly but they will never give the same results as humans. Testing on animals is unnecessary.
@8R2CDWJ4yrs4Y
@8Q77LG94yrs4Y
Why not use humams with their full capacity
@8Q3WTW84yrs4Y
For vaccines only. Certainly NOT cosmetics.
@9CXF6S82yrs2Y
Yes, but alternatives should be sought if possible
@9BSHVBB2yrs2Y
No...alternative methods should be found eg AI, human tissues
@9BR46TX2yrs2Y
Use convicted criminals who disregarded someone else’s human right
@994NTH92yrs2Y
Yes, but not endangered one. Day to day animals
@9CMVWMW2yrs2Y
Yes, but sustained effort should by enforced to ensure high standards and regulation
