The Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 is to ensure that everyone who is at risk of homelessness, or who is homeless, is legally entitled to meaningful help from their local authority regardless of their current status. It does this by defining the service that local councils and other public bodies must provide to those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The law requires councils to provide that help at an earlier stage than previously, with the objective that this will decrease the likelihood that people will become homeless.

No, but only if the available shelter that they are refusing is well maintained and suitable for their needs

I think housing needs to be looked/based as it is ludicrous this is done for illegal immigrants and not people who are currently homeless

Shelters should be able to take people with drug & alcohol problems rather than making them choose shelter or their addiction
Create campsites where they would feel safe as not everyone feels safe inside. Ask them what they want.
@9PY2DWF9mos9MO
Yes but if they have refused shelter & it is a life choice then others should not be funding food clothes medicine. More sites should be available for traveller families
@9PVJXNN9mos9MO
More social programs are required but stricter sanctions are required for those who do not accept help for no reason or to avoid supervision of drug use

I think the issue is with how difficult it is for homeless people to pick themselves back up and get proper housing and jobs and not whether they sleep on the street or now
@9MQNNND10mos10MO
We need to make sure that the shelter available is safe. Too many are unsafe, drugs are pushed, theft and safety are compromised and that is why some choose the streets rather than shelters
@9M4SKM411mos11MO
Within reason and not just all over the place where it could be a hazard or make people feel threatened
@9NHG9N6Women's Equality10mos10MO
No There should be made a camp ground or an area to camp that isn't in the street so it's safe for them and the public
they should not be allowed on individuals private property if they have refused help and shelter that was previously offered. mental health counseling should be available

Within reason not in parks or near children and no drugs why can't we turn some of the disused buildings into temp accommodation
Letting them sleep on public property will make some people uncomfortable especially as we have offered a roof above their heads, but it is not private property so anyone can be on that ground.

Provide communal housing programs instead
@8YVQG593yrs3Y
Homeless people should all have a place to be
@99M36VF2yrs2Y
yes but still provide further incentives to make them go to the shelter
@99GMGWL2yrs2Y
yes but as long as it isn't in the way of peoples daily routine as well as attempting to assist them more
More homeless shelters - for example empty halls with multiple single beds (like war shelter) with hot drinks etc
@93G72FR3yrs3Y
Yes but you can't do any damage to the public place
