Yes

 @9GYSR4Qagreed…3yrs3Y

it's too important not to be covered, if you are white, cis, straight then you have so much privilege and power in your words, britain needs to teach their children that discrimination is wrong

 @9GFS9GTagreed…3yrs3Y

Well, all I can say is try being called a paki for all your childhood and being treated as less human and less British than your peers. Then come back to me and tell me diversity and inclusion isn't important.

 @9F54W23Labourdisagreed…3yrs3Y

YOU LEARN THROUGH RESPECT IN ALL ASPECTS ON ALL FRONTS NOT JUST ELEMENTS HIGHLIGHTED AS POTENTIAL ISSUES

 @9FZ5M9Pdisagreed…3yrs3Y

It is ultimately a waste of money. Education is about preparing people for the world of work not about instilling certain social values within a person. This type of training is irrelevant and is simply a way to keep moronic notions of culture war ideals and will only bolster the rightwing accusations of wokeness within education, something that detracts from their own failings in government. Only those who have actually committed hate crimes or some form of discrimination should be subject to such training.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...3yrs3Y

No

 @B9NCXGLagreed…5mos5MO

Institutions do not get to lecture us or train us on personal morals; only the expected proper etiquette during the time there.

Exposure to different cultures; and our ability to pick what is good and bad out of them is exactly how progress is made at all, and any active regression is stopped.

 @9MS3DSJdisagreed…2yrs2Y

This will lead to improved mental health of children by educating all to accept and embrace people as they are and ultimately create a more peaceful society moving forward

 @9GYSR4Qdisagreed…3yrs3Y

Students should have it instilled with them from a young age not to discriminate against anyone and that we are all equal

 @9FPFYX7disagreed…3yrs3Y

Diverse people are the most important people in our country, they bring their cultures and without them life in the UK would be awful.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...3yrs3Y

No, and mandatory diversity training should be banned

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...3yrs3Y

Yes, and all schools should require mandatory diversity training

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...3yrs3Y

No, diversity training should be encouraged but not required

 @9MS3DSJdisagreed…2yrs2Y

Why would we not try our best to create a more accepting society for the future of our children. We should be shedding light on previous struggles and future opportunities to improve for our children to understand how to be more empathetic and accepting

 @9G85KTDdisagreed…3yrs3Y

I agree to that but just for the debate
It is essential for our citizens to learn about the diversity of our great country, this shall help in reducing racism and promoting understanding between people of different races and ethnicities who deserve equal rights to other humans, our county shall be accepting and encouring to teach about diversity instead of saying our culture is the best, teaching people about diversity and people respecting different cultures will only make this country great not just by name but literally

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...3yrs3Y

Yes, and immediately expel any student that displays racist behavior

 @B9NCXGLdisagreed…5mos5MO

A person immediately expelled is a person martyred. Real discrimination is combatted through exposure to different ways of life; not by isolating and ostracising people who dont know well enough from not having seen the better parts of other cultures.

It is also the right of all men and women to choose who they associate with; and on what grounds and how they go about it. There is nothing wrong with people learning that through socialisation, natural exposure to different cultures and being able to comfortably exercise their own freedoms as with all of this in place; most people will soon learn if interested enough. If not, it's their right to be ignorant; so long as they are not violent.

 @B4TTYBNdisagreed…1yr1Y

student-aged people are very susceptible to online radicalisation and therefore need training if they discriminate someone. expelling them is a waste of time.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...3yrs3Y

No, only private schools should be allowed to require mandatory training

 @BDSJHTGanswered…4wks4W

Only to the actual Racist, Homophobic, Transphobic, Sexist, Ethnonationalists, and not for people who simply vote Reform UK or Restore Britain, but Diversity training i'd say should be encourged

 @BD5KPGBanswered…2mos2MO

Privatize the entire education system and allow each school to decide.

 @BD37SV9answered…2mos2MO

Teachers should train them to stop all forms of racial or ethnic/ancestral hatred. Perhaps they can teach them other cultures from a neutral POV for general knowledge, non-materialistic aspects like food and music is a more beautiful concept to have a look at, but they should not teach them that all non-materilistic cultures are equal.

 @BD2WX8Fanswered…2mos2MO

Yes, but teach it as part of the curriculum where they focus on the civil rights movement and the suffragettes

 @BC4PK74answered…3mos3MO

Again diversity training is encouraging blanant reverse discrimination under the guise of being equality

 @B9J8XKV answered…5mos5MO

No, students will see it as a dumb thing they're required to do and make them predisposed against the things taught in it.

 @B6295BPConservativeanswered…12mos12MO

this is a really tricky question because the schools should have the choice whether to have mandatory training or not, but equally students shouldn’t have to mandatorily take part in it

 @B5988HJanswered…1yr1Y

Yes, and all schools should require mandatory, age-appropriate, and effective diversity training that fosters empathy, understanding, respect, and inclusivity among all students, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds.

 @B2PQ8NNanswered…1yr1Y

Yes, but not disclosed as diversity training as that further highlights the differences between students- instead, a community of acceptance should be encouraged with discrimination being abnormal and punishable

 @9G5MCLJanswered…3yrs3Y

Diversity training should be mandatory as to increase understanding and decrease confusion, and a psychological exam for all students, more education given to those who commit acts of discrimination, then extensive retraining and a full psychological evaluation and deep dive into the person and then expelled should they do it again after retraining.

 @9FY5N22answered…3yrs3Y

No, we're all the same except for few biological differences hurting other kids whether it be physical or emotional is called bullying and teaching kids not to bully should be required

 @9FV77GNanswered…3yrs3Y

Yes, as long as it is made clear to parents and prospective pupils that it is something that the school does

 @9FSHX9Yanswered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only diversity training with fundamental learnings that are widely agreed upon within medical, psychological, and diverse populations. Such training must be closely scrutinised and adhere to high standards of rigour.

 @9FRFH7Vanswered…3yrs3Y

Less formal diversity “training” should be required in the way of informal teaching, education and awareness raising

 @9DXKP88answered…3yrs3Y

Schools should teach a soft form of education about inherent biases. Teaching that having a bias isn't inherently wrong and the bad thing comes from not recognizing and challenging that bias.

 @9DPBQFMGreenanswered…3yrs3Y

No, this should be covered on the school curriculum where critical race theory should be taught

 @9DCWFC2answered…3yrs3Y

No but comparative religions should be part of the curriculum and cultural awareness should be a value of each school to promote acceptance of other beliefs and lifestyles.

 @9ZV4F9Yanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, Students should be required by law to learn about different cultures and why it is important to respect people regardless of backgrounds

 @9SBTMJPanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, twice every month all schools should be required mandatory diverse training including social skills training.

 @9QJMMKGanswered…2yrs2Y

I believe that children should be taught diversity when they are old enough to understand, preferably in Year 7 or 8.

 @9QH5JDZReform UKanswered…2yrs2Y

I think that in the UK, we should Introduce something called “Respect Culture”, where in schools they should be thought to respect people’s religious views and cultures. And especially those coming to the UK , they need to Respect the Culture and traditions, if they can not do this, then they should be fined

 @9Q4DQ3FGreen answered…2yrs2Y

problems with diversity are quickly falling, especially in the youth as as our generations continue to become more diverse. diversity training is not so necessary that it needs to be mandatory but can be optional.

 @9Q3TS92Labouranswered…2yrs2Y

Education is key, calling it training is wrong but children should understand that we’re all different and then accept people for who they are.

 @9Q3HXVWanswered…2yrs2Y

The problem is the quality and reliability of teaching such a subject. It is human nature to push one’s own beliefs instead of staying politically neutral

 @9Q3CF47answered…2yrs2Y

No, it shouldn't be mandatory but should be highly encouraged as long as it doesn't impjnge on rights to freedom of speech

 @9Q2PZ3SGreen answered…2yrs2Y

All schools should teach "civics, ethics and philosophy" as mandatory subject and diversity, equity and inclusion should be an integral part of that curriculum. If we want people to grow up to be good citizens and good neighbours, we need to give them the tools and language to do so.

 @9PT3HMYanswered…2yrs2Y

This should be built into Social Study (or equivalent) lessons for all students at a level relevant for their age

 @9PRD6ZCanswered…2yrs2Y

This is provided in the curriculum already under World Views and also should be part of the school assembly

 @9PRD99TConservativeanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but the age and maturity of the child should be considered to ensure they have the emotional maturity to take on adult themed conversations and should be well balanced

 @9P52LB8answered…2yrs2Y

There are far more pressing things a student should be learning the whole education system needs reviewing

 @9NV5LVSLabouranswered…2yrs2Y

Don't really know what this question means. We have PSHE already, does that not cover this? Feels like a question that may make more sense in the US.

 @9NLYWWCanswered…2yrs2Y

Not mandatory, but teachers should be trained to look at those issues as they teach. Children will learn from their example. Students who commit acts of discriminiation should be trained.

 @9NHFJLNIndependentanswered…2yrs2Y

There should be diversity training up until secondary school, at which point students should be expected to be respectful of their peers who may be different from them. Students caught bullying based on discrimination should be reminded of why diversity is not a bad thing.

 @9NFGYYVanswered…2yrs2Y

If diversity includes more than skincolour/ethnicity, such as neurodiversity, learning about differences etc

 @9N6HCTVanswered…2yrs2Y

Training makes it sound a bit militant. Educate kids on diversity and inclusion, but make it feel like any other part of their education.

 @9MYTVMBanswered…2yrs2Y

Schools should not be required to be surrogate parents. The curriculum is crowded with subjects, while important, encroaches on basic numeracy and literacy.

 @9MWVX59Liberal Democratanswered…2yrs2Y

No it shouldn't be required. It should be the parents responsibility, however, schools may offer education on diversity - there should be an option to attend these.

 @9MTQ39Panswered…2yrs2Y

Diversity training is an odd way to describe it in the context of students. Students should be taught to treat others equally

 @9LNFN6Canswered…2yrs2Y

No, children should be taught history and the facts that lead to discrimination not talking about the difference

 @9LLTW74answered…2yrs2Y

This and so many other things should be the parents' duty, we need to educate people on how to be better parents.

 @9LLQMDHanswered…2yrs2Y

I feel like schools should create an environment in which people from diverse communities should be treated fairly and teachers should have to teach tolerance for people from different backgrounds I also think the lack of classes on critical think and stats in relation to political issues creates an environment where ignorant positions can't be challenged

 @9LG823Banswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but it should be balance diversity training for students that promotes cohesion without division or promotion of radical views

 @9LDRMDWanswered…2yrs2Y

It should be available for all students, but only mandatory for students who commit acts of discrimination.

 @9KX6VDManswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, the concepts should be applied within the curriculum but not specifically trained into students

 @9JXTWTCanswered…2yrs2Y

'Diversity training' is really the wrong terminology for schools. Instead, having curriculum content about educating students about how other's may be different would be preferred.

 @9JHYPPSanswered…2yrs2Y

No, there is too much risk of mandatory diversity training suppressing freedom of thought and speech, as well as legitimate concerns.

 @9HP6CX2Greenanswered…3yrs3Y

We should be educated on all beliefs and open mindedness from a young age, if our country accepts workers from other countries it's important to educate ourselves

 @9HKYK28SDPanswered…3yrs3Y

As long as diversity includes disability. Too often it does not, and the resulting training creates more problems than it solves.

 @9H47YKGanswered…3yrs3Y

No, but promote the idea of students sharing their culture amongst peers and having cultural celebration days rather than make it enforced that it’s a “training”.

 @9GH9YLFfrom Pennsylvania  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but people from those groups should be speaking about how to interact with them. Having an abled person discuss how to interact with a disabled person is not helpful. They almost always get it wrong. Same for a straight person discussing how to speak to queer people, or someone from the country discussing how to speak to an immigrant.

 @99MC48Fanswered…3yrs3Y

 @99LZQ6Lanswered…3yrs3Y

Diversity and feminism should be banned it's pointless and overshadows actual problems of society such as the greed of capitalism. Students should be taught about how bad capitalism is instead

 @99LZPLVanswered…3yrs3Y

Feminism and woke culture doesn't matter and is pointless social justice is a waste of time

 @99LKMQNLabouranswered…3yrs3Y

I don't think this has to be mandatory but it should be recommended.

 @9D355DLanswered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only train them about disability, autism awareness and neurodiversity

 @9CXF6S8answered…3yrs3Y

 @9BYJBY4answered…3yrs3Y

No, if a student is acting in a discriminatory or hateful manner they should be punished for doing so. But diversity training cannot undo the reason why the student had committed those acts. Diversity training in schools will only fuel the ongoing culture war and have no effect on the truly bigoted.

 @9BSJSFHGreenanswered…3yrs3Y

 @9BDVP9Nanswered…3yrs3Y

 @9BDPLSPanswered…3yrs3Y

The parents should be the ones making this decision not the schools

 @99Y6HT6answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but focus on learning and appreciating other cultures as well as your own. Try not to focus solely on the hate crime.

 @B6GD957answered…11mos11MO

The UK should move beyond a top-down, punitive model of mandatory diversity training and instead establish a comprehensive and democratically-accountable system for building a fair and inclusive school culture from the ground up, with a focus on curriculum reform and empowering students and teachers.
