You believe in promoting social equality through progressive taxation, social safety nets, and government regulation of businesses.
Economic progressivism is a political ideology that advocates for economic reforms that promote social justice and equality. This ideology is rooted in the belief that the government should play a significant role in mitigating economic disparities and ensuring fair distribution of wealth. Economic progressives argue for policies such as progressive taxation, where the rich are taxed more heavily than the poor, and social safety nets, such as welfare programs and unemployment benefits, to protect the most vulnerable members of society.
The history of economic progressivism dates back…

Is it the government's role to regulate businesses to protect the environment, even if it means lower profits for those businesses?
@9HC43TV1yr1Y
Government should make policies to protect the environment
@9H9KYJY1yr1Y
Yes, a business which is unsustainable is unprofitable and shouldn't exist
@9HBZD491yr1Y
Depends how much profit we mean. If large companies and corporations lose out on exploiting customers excessively, so be it. But if small businesses suffer, not fair. The environment is an incredibly important issue but I worry that it has become a political rather than a logical, scientific topic.
@9H7ZFHS1yr1Y
Absolutely. One business is not more important than the future of this planet.

How does the idea of equal access to healthcare for all make you feel about the society you live in?
@9KFNGDN1yr1Y
Well I think there should be equal access to healthcare for MOST people as the rich could afford to pay something.
@9KFMZPC1yr1Y
I think that everyone should get the chance to have the same healthcare but if someone is in need of immediate and extra help and cannot get it on the NHS, then they should be able to pay for private healthcare.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Do you think having free college education for everyone is worth higher taxes?
@9H7K44T1yr1Y
Yes. Charging acts as a barrier and embeds privilege.
Yes. Intelligence and talent are not confined to those who can afford higher education. My not funding free college education think of the wasted talent of a country and the inefficiency of that when we are in a global world with a competition for innovation and development.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
If your access to better schools depended on your parents' income, how might your view of 'equality of opportunity' change?
@9HLFNNV1yr1Y
This should never be an issue. There should be no private schools and access to education should be equitable for everyone.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Imagine if every job, from janitor to CEO, came with the same benefits package - how do you think that would impact society?
@9HLG4CH1yr1Y
This would positively impact society as we would have equal rights to healthcare and bigger corporations would not get larger benefits than those who cannot get a better job than where they are now.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Can true meritocracy exist in a society where the wealth gap continues to grow?
@9H7H8KG1yr1Y
Sort of, but there's gender bias from hundreds of years of historical gender wealth gap
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
Do you believe that everyone, regardless of their job, deserves to have a secure retirement?
@9H5PFG6Conservative1yr1Y
It would depend on how much they have contributed to taxes paid, and how long they worked for.
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
How would you feel about a society that offers free public college to all, but you had to contribute an extra year of public service?
@9HPHM431yr1Y
I think that would benefit society and help people understand hard work
@ISIDEWITH1yr1Y
If you created a successful business, would you be open to regulations ensuring your workers' wellbeing even if it reduced your profits?
@9HLDZYX1yr1Y
No. The government should not be involved in the market.
