There are many people who are your family but don’t care about you and would not go any lengths for. There are some people who are not your family that would do that such as your boyfriend or girlfriend or very close friend.

'...isms' are part of the problem. Do not pander to loud minorities for the sake of a quiet life. If it sounds crazy then it probably is if after sober analysis no real merit is found.

My family has supported me emotionally and financially and I have benefitted form this, but not everyone is lucky enough to have a family unit. There are other sources of support.
