Extreme measures that cause great harm to humanity should not be taken to preserve our world. And whilst natural beauty is important human existence is more important, so any solution that caused serious harm to humanity in any sense including economically should not be taken. Scientific advances have already done so much to help halt climate change and future advances such as carbon capture are already on the way. The reason the hole in the ozone layer managed to heal up was precisely because of “massive government intervention” involved in banning aerosols. This only happened because of pressure groups that were dubbed as climate alarmists at the time and are now commonly accepted to have made a world’s of difference. Regulations like this definitely do not do serious harm to humanity and don’t affect the quality of life for anyone. And whilst we’re talking about arbitrary goals, it’s worth pointing out that economic measures like GDP are largely arbitrary and do not directly correlate with the well-being and happiness of the population. The richest country based on GDP per capita is Luxembourg, but it is only ninth highest in terms of happiness ratings amongst its population.
